Treadmill Smart Speed turns your iPhone into a Bluetooth running speed and incline sensor. Set the speed you are running on screen and your iPhone broadcasts it, exactly as a footpod would — so Zwift, and any other app that reads a running sensor, sees your treadmill. No footpod, no treadmill upgrade, no extra hardware.
GETTING CONNECTED
1. Start pairing in Zwift. Open the pairing screen and choose the run speed sensor slot.
2. Look for this iPhone by its own name. The app cannot change how it appears — to change what Zwift shows, rename the phone in Settings › General › About › Name.
3. Wait for the pill to turn green. It reads Connected once a fitness app is receiving speed. Until then it reads Discoverable.
BUILT TO BE READ MID-RUN
The screen is made to be read at arm's length, in a dim room, while you are running. The speed being broadcast owns the display, and every control sits in the half a thumb reaches.

The Apple Watch app estimates your speed and cadence from your wrist and reads your heart rate, then streams them to your iPhone. Your iPhone broadcasts the speed, and your heart rate as a heart-rate sensor that Zwift can pair too. Your run is saved to Health as a workout.

I set a speed of 2 in the app but my avatar in game shows 1.5. I’ve tried switching between imperial and metric but even when app and game both are set to miles the speeds are way off.
It Worked Great for me!
Walkin Still
For $5 I’m now able to walk on Zwift!Do to mobility issues I find it very difficult to walk over 1 mph. This means normal trackers have not worked for me on Zwift. By being able to manually control to speed information transmited to Zwift I was able to get my avatar to slowly move around Watopia. This is huge for me. Thank you. If you have similar issues getting onto Zwift I highly recommend giving this a try.
Doesn’t do what I want

I was hoping the app would allow me to send the correct pace from the treadmill to Workout rather than relying on the terrible gyro guestimator that Workout uses by default. This app doesn’t do that. Rather it lets you use your phone to display the bad pace data from the watch as though that would somehow be more helpful than the display on the treadmill. I guess if you had a treadmill with absolutely no display, it might be better than nothing. I have nothing to say about the broadcast to zwift functionality as I didn’t use that.
Solved the biggest problem running in Zwift.

I love running on Zwift and it has made an incredible impact on my running, but I get so frustrated with the footpod, and even the new treadmill attachment. They dramatically understate or overstate my speed, and get further and further off as the run goes on. I was actually going to buy a new smart treadmill so that I could get consistent numbers when I found this. That has been so helpful and saved me a ton of money.
