Find your Mister Softee truck in the Bay Area. See where our trucks are on a live map, save the places that matter to you, and get a heads-up when a truck is close by. LIVE MAP Trucks appear on the map while they're out, updated continuously through the afternoon and evening. Every pin shows how recently it was seen, so you always know what you're looking at. YOUR PLACES Save home, work, a park, or anywhere else you'd want to catch us. Type an address - no need to be standing there. A HEADS-UP WHEN WE'RE CLOSE Turn on alerts and we'll let you know when a truck is getting near one of your saved places. Quiet hours are built in, and we deliberately keep alerts rare: no spam, no repeats, no buzzing all afternoon. CROWD TIPS Big group at the park? Let us know about a gathering happening right now. If we're close, we will try to make it there. WHEN A TRUCK IS AT A PRIVATE EVENT Trucks booked for private events still show on the map, clearly labeled, so you know they're not available to flag down. Mister Softee NorCal serves the San Francisco Bay Area.

Why doesn’t the truck come on our street anymore?

The truck used to come down on our street every Saturday afternoon, but no longer does, even though I see and hear the truck on the next street. Why does t the truck go down our street any more? Who to contact to get the truck to go down Bothell Circle San Jose?

Developer Response
Thank you for being a loyal customer, and we're sorry we haven't been by lately. Routes change with the season and staffing, and we'll pass your note on to our team.— Mister Softee NorCal Team

It’s not very well designed....

First of all, Everytime I open this app it tries to demand permission to background refresh. Folks, let me tell you, I don’t want a bunch of apps constantly running background refresh and draining my battery life. Put in an option for only while using or something, for crying out loud. It’s dumb that it doesn’t let me opt out of background refresh. Second of all, it would be really nice if truck location also showed approximate time truck is expected to be at a location - potentially with an option to view future scheduled locations/times to make it easier to plan. Lastly, I showed up once and the truck was on out accepting cash. I ended up scrounging quarters out of my change purse to pay for my tasty treat. It would be nice if the app showed which payment methods the truck was accepting. Lastly sometimes the line gets really long. I once stood in line for over an hour to get some ice cream. It would be nice if the app offered some kind of idea of current wait times.

We hear you on the permission prompts. Location is only used to show nearby trucks and send truck-nearby alerts, and we're reviewing how often we ask. You can choose While Using in iOS Settings. Thanks for the feedback.— Mister Softee NorCal Team

Inaccurate Truck Location

The truck location seems to be inaccurate despite refreshing and reopening the app multiple times. I drove to one of the locations where the app showed a truck parked, but there was no truck there. This was very disappointing, especially after driving about 30 minutes to get there. Please make sure the truck locations are updated regularly and accurately. I don’t want to drive that far based on the app only to find that the truck isn’t actually there.

Developer Response
We're really sorry you drove 30 minutes and didn't find the truck. That's exactly what we never want to happen. Trucks move around their routes, and we're working to keep their locations as fresh as possible. Our latest update also lets you choose how close a truck has to be before you're alerted, and you can turn the jingle off or have it respect silent mode. Thank you for letting us know.

I downloaded the app and it asked me for a bunch of different things. Yes, I understand the location allowing part but why does it need my motion cues??? That’s just kinda odd like honestly it’s weird too… Another thing that I noticed was that the app wouldn’t allow me to track the exact location that I was at even though I have my location on. I also tried refreshing and scrolling out of the app which did not seem to help at all so honestly just don’t waste your time on this app

New: Jingle sounds switch, choose how close a truck must be before alerting you, the app now respects your phone's silent mode, plus a quick way to tell us how we're doing.
