Workout with your Concept 2, Rogue Echo, WaterRower or FluidRower rowing machine. Be guided by world-class athletes and instructors. Follow structured training programs to improve yourself and your times or just choose your own workout. asensei customizes challenges to meet your capability and pushes you to your potential.
asensei rowing guides and monitors your practice on and off your rowing machine. Hundreds of workouts, no need to plan - get a recommendation every time! Structured programs - build strength and fitness alongside skill and technique as you are guided, monitored and corrected by great coaches assisted by your personal AI coach, asensei.
asensei rowing talks to the monitor on your rowing machine, analyzes your performance and uses that to inform your practice. Are you losing power at higher stroke rates? Are you losing length when you’re tired? Do you find it hard to hold lower stroke rates consistently? Are you rushing the recovery? Compensating for poor leg drive with over-use of your arms?
asensei knows. And she’ll be sure to let you know.
Practice. Perfected.

WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING:
“I was fortunate enough to have great coaches from the very beginning of my rowing career. This meant I wasn’t taking thousands of bad rowing strokes, ingraining bad habits. The potential for asensei to provide quality feedback before bad habits are formed is really exciting", Helen Glover, 2x Olympic Gold Medallist and World #1 Rower.
"Just when you thought (sports) technology couldn't get any cooler, along comes asensei", CBS Television
"... the next frontier in the fitness tech revolution ... a wildly ambitious goal ... able to guide you through everything from form and recovery to metrics and goals while improving your individual results ... future of personal training", Men's Health
Here's what users had to say:
"someone keeping an eye on you the whole time is really cool because ... it keeps you honest, keeps you on track in a way that I don't think a coach normally can unless you are doing a one on one session, so it was the benefit of a one on one, with the class dynamic, which I really like!"
"It's a cool product. I've never ever seen anything like that. In 5 minutes I learned how to row, I thought I was doing it right, but I wasn't"
"(asensei) said don't worry there's a bunch of exercises I'm going to give to you afterwards that are going to help you on that. ... that's amazing. ... this is not just about now, it's like building a relationship."
With gyms closed in my area due to the pandemic, I decided to buy a Concept2 rower in order to stay in shape. I decided to try out asensei and was blown away with the quality of the intro workouts that I immediately purchased the lifetime membership along with Eric Murray’s rowing program. I’m a former NCAA Division 2 swimmer and water polo player and the workouts challenge me every time I strap into the rower. The coaching feedback that the app gives you while you row is perfect for helping improve your technique. I use the app on my iPad (I bought a separate iPad mount); having the display unchanged between iPhone and iPad is another quality feature. The developers are very quick to reply to any reported bug or problem.A couple improvements I would like to see in future updates is seeing your goal stroke rate and goal pace displayed above your current stroke rate and pace regardless of whether you’re meeting your goal or not. Right now it only displays if you’re not at the goal stroke rate or slower than goal pace. I’d also like to see asensei “control” the Concept2 PM5 monitor so that the PM5 mirrors asensei as much as possible (for example: having the PM5 pace boat display match the goal pace asensei sets for you, having the PM5 display your interval and rest periods during those workouts).I’ve recommended this app to all of my friends who use a rowing machine or are considering getting one. I hope that a co-op workout feature is added in the near future.

Yes, after two sessions I can’t wait to get on my rower again. I just bought my first rower Concept2 during this pandemic. I tried it at the gym but wasn’t really thrilled. I looked at the Hydrow, which though is beautiful , but is heavy and had way to many workout choices. I couldn’t see my saying commuted to a monthly pay service until I found Asensei. Once I got my rower it sat there for a few days. I read the manual and lethargically tried to play a game. I was looking for a coaching experience like the hydrow on a lake and then I found Asensei. I thought I will give it a try. I tried it for the first time last night and when Eric said that try rowing three times a week, I was like no way, I am coming back tomorrow before I go to the gym. Great app. Yes the pairing was confusing as my iPad was already connected to ErgData, but I figured it out. Same goes for how to find settings such that I know how to upload to Concept2 logbook. The chat setting is not the most intuitive but once you figure it out. It is okay. I will be signing up soon :)
One of the best fitness apps out there

I purchased a Concept 2 rower about a year ago, and while I was using it on and off, I found it difficult to get into any kind of structured workout routine. It was difficult to get motivated to row.So, I started to look for an accompanying app, and found Asensei. I have now been using Asensei for several months (first the free trial, then the paid subscription version). For me it ticks all the right boxes. Structure, motivation, teaching technique (useful even though I rowed in college - 2 decades ago - but valuable for all experience levels), and a good variety of training plans. It integrates seamlessly with my Concept 2, and accompanying logging software (Concept 2 logbook then to Strava and Garmin Connect). It took a bit of time to get used to navigating certain parts of the app, finding the best programs etc., but overall it’s easy to use and comprehensive for my needs.I haven’t tried all of the trainers (yet), but absolutely love Eric Murray’s workouts, and have just started another of his programs. He talks just the right amount, enough to motivate but not too much to become distracting/ annoying, and the variety of his workouts helps keep the training fresh. He’s also helping me to achieve new PBs.So, while I rarely write reviews, I wanted to post this one to hopefully help others who may be looking for a tool to help take their rowing and fitness to the next level. Keep up the good work Asensei!
Great intro so far

New to rowing. This has been a great intro. Was a little confusing connecting the asensei app, the rower, the erglog, and apple health, but that is probably on me and the apple universe more than the app. And eventually, when you have it set up, the app even reminds you to just hit connect on the ergrower and everything syncs up easily. My daughter even has a separate account that tracks her now. Assuming i could even find a gym with an ergrower (with pm5) and easily continue on the app, connecting to that gym rower. The lessons/workouts are sequential, and I love how it processes your performance from a previous workout (or part of the workout) and then benchmarks you for pushing yourself on the next workout/part. The screen layout and metrics are easy and intuitive. Nice that it flashes/highlights a metric when you are behind or ahead the intended workout pace. Also, being reminded of form (either by watching the coach on the rower, or verbally from the app) is super helpful. A push with the legs is worth so much more than a pull with the arms.I’ve only rowed so far with he intro program and coach Eric, but look forward to more. And so far no paywall; though surely this app pays for itself somehow, so I’m assuming it will start asking me for some payment or upgrades for access to higher level stuff at some point. My only desire is that it would be awesome to have music that had a cadence that matched the desired stroke rate. Tricky to do, I know, but with modern tech…wouldn’t it be nice.
Now supports the WaterRower Performance Ergometer with PowerPulley. Just start your workout and pull the handle to connect!
