Explain to me why I can pay for every other type of ticket on the app but if I want to pay for access to the bikes in Helsinki I have to jump to 15 hoops only to be turned away at the last section anyway. First the website blocks international IPs (even if you have an EU phone number). Next it blocks you from using a non-Scandinavian payment method DESPITE saying that you can (the different card service icons in the payment section). After that, if you pay for a city bike (between 1-4 bikes in case you want to pay for a friend in a situation like this) you CANNOT buy additional bikes AFTER. You have to wait the duration you paid for (month, week, day) to finish BEFORE trying again for the correct number of bikes. My friend called customer service and they said “yeah that’s how the system works, you can’t change it once you pay it.” That IS NOT a reason, that is a shortcoming- a FAILURE of the app. How is it that the developers failed to see that this could be a potential issue? FINALLY, if you want to delete your account, you have to give them your account info (not an issue) but then you need to give them PAY CREDENTIALS- information that the service did NOT accept in the first place and EACH of the pay options are from Scandinavian banks ONLY. If customer service cannot overwrite these issues, their jobs are a waste of money. If the developers cannot predict an issue like this happening, their jobs are a waste of money.This is not a small issue, this is a glaring problem.
Hi. Thank you for your feedback. I sincerely apologize for the poor experience. Many of the listed issues are painful and known. HSL app does not have Citybike integration and provides only a link to the account page. We will renew the Citybike system completely in 2026 but no urgent changes are planned for the next Spring season 25. Currently HSL customer support can help with HSL ID Account or registration related matters but all further inquiries (payment issues etc) are handled by Citybike's own customer support. We are also aware there are times when foreign customers cannot access our services and we are working on long term solutions with our contractors. I apologize for the inconvenience caused.
