The Creative MIDI Sequencer
Riffer is a creative MIDI sequencer that generates random patterns and melodies for you. Designed to feed any Synth, Sampler, Drum Machine and anything that accepts MIDI signal both software and hardware. You can choose scales, complexity, steps, start and end points, playback motion, set pitch, transpose, measures and many more.
Generate fresh ideas, sequences, melodies, riffs and musical patterns. Turn them into something of your own, or let it run endlessly using the Infinity mode. Riffer is built both for studio and live performance. The app includes a huge variety of scales, from western to eastern and you can save your favorite Riffs for quick access.
Featuring MIDI output support over WiFi or MIDI cable. Riffer also supports Ableton Link for tight sync between apps on the same network.

Serious Flaws (revised)
The midi and transport functionalities are seriously flawed. Note tie and sustain do not function properly when used in conjunction with note probability. This could be a great app. I question the choice of making it AUv3 compatible before fixing these issues.
Response to Developer:
Thanks for the update. When Ableton link selected and Sync Start/Stop deselected, transport does not begin on step one.
Midi Import selections do not stay deselected. Impossible to deselect all choices for no midi input. Would be nice to have more real estate in the UI for that.
Just tested latest version. I see now that volumes of ghosted notes (greyed out) must be changed manually in order for them to be filtered from the output. Can that be implemented programatically?
Developer Response ,
Hi, These problems have been solved, Please kindly update to the latest 1.1.1 Version
Any Teething Problems Were Fixed Fast Long Ago
Very stable. Been using Riffer since the day it was released. Runs all night and then some without issue. If there is a problem some other app always crashes first. Super easy to use. That counts for a lot when it is late and you just want to get some ambient sounds up and running fast. The randomizer seems fine to me. All the controls seemed to respond to MIDI signals as I recall on the rare occasions I get that motivated.
It sounds like some folks need to understand iOS app developers don't have every variation of iPad or iPhone ever made, but, if they'd wait a few days or a couple of minor updates they will find whatever issues they are having will be addressed. At least that has consistently been my experience with music apps. Riffer is the much improved successor to an app, the name of which I can't even remember, but that just proves my point about music app Developers. They, in general, pretty consistently strive to improve their apps. Of course, they really are under no great obligation to keep up with major hardware advances, but, they do for the most part.
My favorite app just got better
The 3.0 update has taken Riffer to a whole new level. The density function adds so many more rhythmic possibilities. Having 4 Riffer instances in one with tuning, velocity, duration, and density capable of being randomized independently or all together gives me an amazing amount of control over just how random everything gets. I already use this app on nearly every single thing I create. I cannot recommend Riffer enough!
