As a children’s vintage clothing seller on Etsy since 2012, second to being a vintage buyer for myself since, as long as I have had spending power, I can genuinely vouch for Gem as being a go-to search engine tool for vintage, as a seasoned fashion gal. I have utilized the app as a seller for price comps as well as opened up the app waiting in line at the post office, day dreaming about a fantastic Nederland’s brand I used to buy in the early 00s just to see what pieces might come up… It is FAST, robust, and most important- unbiased- you wont get the same images showing up at the top of your screen over and over based on algorithm (paid) back-end-stuff, AND its conveniently mobile, in the palm of your hand, wherever you are. I love how specific you can make your search and that it comes back with exactly what you’re looking for and not a bunch of non applicable results. The filters let you see size/price/decade/location results from various popular vintage sites (Etsy, EBay and more) and the app lets you save listings and shows you the shop names which is great as a seller as it’s yet another way to drive business to your brand. Another favorite thing about the app is that it has an editorial section featuring interviews with vintage fashion icons, tips and tricks from stylists to seamstresses. It’s a perfect one stop shop for seeing and hearing from the diverse people that help vintage thrive👍🏾✨👏🏾
