GROW YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD by spending regular time in His Word. The Today in the Word app gives you fresh daily Bible content, new studies each month on complete books of the Bible or biblical topics. Authored by Moody Bible Institute professors, you’ll find the devotionals easy to read and listen to, but with rich insights that deepen your understanding of each Scripture passage.
BUILD THE HABIT OF DAILY BIBLE READING with the newest version of the app. A “devotional streak” lets you track and improve your habit of regular time in God’s Word. You can select any translation of the Bible you prefer. Each day has a beautiful Bible verse graphic to share. There are additional resources for each month’s topic.
BEST OF ALL, IT IS FREE! There is no charge for any feature of the app which is fully funded by generous readers who believe in the importance of Bible study. By signing up for a free personal account, you can keep your Bible study notes, track completed readings, and save your preferred Bible version.
Here are 5 reasons to make Today in the Word devotional app your #1 choice:
1) GET SMALL, BUT MEATY BITES EVERY DAY
One reader writes, “This is spiritual meat, and I am very grateful.” With Today in the Word, you’ll learn more about the Bible. Each day’s devotional can be read or listened to in less than 5 minutes, but the content is rich enough if you want to spend additional time digging into each passage. We study an entire Bible passage, not just a “feel good” thought based on one verse.
2) READ THROUGH THE BIBLE, COVER TO COVER
Have you read through the entire Bible? With the Today in the Word app, you will study every book of the Bible, even ones that you might not have explored before. We aren’t afraid to tackle the tough stuff! Bible professors make even the most difficult passages understandable and help you walk away with a direct application for your life.
3) GROW IN YOUR FAITH JOURNEY
“A life changing experience” and “a spiritual revival to my heart”, readers say that this isn’t just about reading the Bible, but letting it change your life! While you may believe that spending regular time in God’s Word strengthens your faith, putting it into practice can be difficult. The app can be used alone or for group study. Each devotional ends with questions that can serve as journal prompts or discussion starters.

I had to take time to write in thanking Dr Bradley Baurain for His devotionals for July 2023 which focus is on the Gift of the Word of God. My wife and I have been reading Today in the Word for the past couple years along with the Scripture associated with the devotional. When we complete the devotional we use it to form our prayer that precedes the devotional as we pray for our daily needs and gratitudes. It has been the greatest blessing in our life during this time. Dr Baurain's focus on the gift of God's Word has been clearly taught and thought provoking as well as life changing for us. I am a student myself at 58 at an online college and just want to thank Moody Bible Institute for providing resources like this to help us not just to be informed of the great truths of His Word but to help us be transformed by the renewing of our mind. If you are considering which devotional resource to use, Today in the Word is my recommendation because it actually applies Scripture accurately and effectively so that your life will without a doubt be impacted by it. God bless Today in the Word!

Thank you so much for your words of encouragement. We agree that Dr. Baurain did a tremendous job on this important study, and we've shared your message with him. God bless you also!
The best daily devotional I have encountered.
A Fruit inspector
I have been reading this devotional the past 3 years and have found nothing that comes close out there. Each day it’s written in such a way that is not only full of wisdom and truth that I feel God is directly guiding me, but I learn so much about how those in the Bible who have come before us have lived. Their problems, doubts and worries have come alive to me. And isn’t that what it’s all about? We Christians sometimes think we are unique in what we face in this world, these times and situations are too different from biblical times. But, even as our Lord has knitted us to be unique, the problems we face as humans are no different; just the time in history. Today in the Word shines a light, God’s light and wisdom for all of us. Thank you Moody Bible Institute that your writers seek God’s spirit each day before they sit down and write these. What wisdom, insight, strength and encouragement we are provided with each day. May God continue to bless the work they have been entrusted to do.

Start the day right
Gainz o'clock
The secret to success is in your daily routine, I’ll read the devotional, and listen to moody radio, throughout the day, everyday. This helps keep me honest, hard working, and equipped to take on the devil in his playground here on earth. If I get busy and can’t sit down and read it I’ll listen to the devotional with my headphones during a workout, or in my car speakers. There’s really no excuse to not stay in the spirit, especially with all this technology, I love it. If your stuck on antisocial media watching the worldly debate between democrat and republican, give it a rest. By the way for all my white evangelicals, Jesus is not a European white person. He’s from the Middle East. Make sure all you white evangelicals pray to the right one, not the alt right, all white Jesus that most fake Christian’s who don’t know suffering, pray too!

Great app - minor hitch with Bible passage references
Guac-A-Mole
* Addendum to original review to suggest ability to change Bible versions within the scripture reading page like on the web version *Great app. Like the fact that one doesn’t need to go into email (and potentially get distracted first thing in the morning). Clean layout and of course good content. Content alone warrants 5 stars (so this overall really should be 4.5 stars). One minor improvement to suggest to bring it a 5: add the scripture reference in the scripture reading section. As it stands now- you see the text reference at the top of the day’s devotional page, but when you click in to read the passage, the actual Bible reference information is gone— I often have to click back out and then click in to see where the passage is from. It should be in the body of text somewhere (also helps with memorization). Currently the Bible text just has a body of text with no associated Bible references.* Update/addition to original review: In the web version the passage of the day is conveniently displayed with the ability to change to any Bible version. In the app, only the default version is shown and one has to go into a separate Bible tab to change versions, but it then shows the entire chapter so locating the day’s passage (especially if you are comparing several different versions) can be troublesome. It would be great if one is able to change versions on the main passage of the day page without requiring to link out to separate tab and trying to find the passage within a much larger chapter text each time. *
