Once you figure out the trick, the app is pretty easy to use. To start a charge at a public charging station the key is to hit the “map” button on the lower left, find your station, and then select your charger. I wish there were a more intuitive button at the get-go when you first open the app. But once I got help from Monta, it worked well and there were plenty of available chargers. I will be using it again.

Overall my experience with the Monta app has been much better than the other charging appsThe only issue I had was a result of an AWS outage, causing me to be (incorrectly) charged an extremely high rate "sitting" rate despite me leaving well before my vehicle was fully charged. I contacted Monta support, and they told me they couldn't do anything about it, which I'd understand in normal circumstances, but this was very clearly caused by their equipment during this AWS outage (so even if this is Amazon's "fault" it certainly wasn't mine nor the location I was charging at)Lastly, their Live Activity, while helpful, does not auto-dismiss until hours later (pretty sure this is when iOS clears any un-cleared ones) which is a direct violation of Apple's policies regarding Live Activities. I get maybe 30 minutes so you can see your cost (maybe even an hour) but 4 hours (likely never if iOS didn't auto-clear) is ridiculous

I have a Montana account which is loaded with credit. I was trying to charge at a charging point here in the UAE. The charging point was not working, yet continued to charge me when I attempted a charge. Monta sent the (Apple Pay) receipt to my registered email. When I found a functioning charging point and tried to charge again, I was unable to log into my account. When I tried to reset my password, I received the error message stating that “this email address is not in our database or registered users” though this is the same email that I receipt was sent to just minutes before. I tried calling the support numbers in the UK, but there is no one answering and they have not responded to messages left last week. There is no way to reach Support unless you can log into your account, which I can’t.

Updated review :Devs say they don't charge for more than you use so changing to 2 stars. But that this isn't clear in tbe app is still bad. And that it is faster than other apps as concept i don't think is right. Other apps you just press - start to charge and that's it. Original review: The app looks overall nice. But when it comes down to the basics. Like indicating my credit card has been added it didn’t do a good job. Introducing concepts that no other charge app (I’ve used 20+) forces you to choose from such as - charge full or charge certain kw - timing of start of charge The default options there were not to my advantage. It wanted me to pay for 50kw as standard option. I was just lucky that I saw it. That would have charged my card upfront for more than I would have been able to charge as I was planning to just stay for a short time. It is ok to make money. But to use dark patterns to make me over commit is not

At the same time, we want to provide you with the opportunity to customize your charging experience, if you wish so. That's why you can select how and when you want to start charging. Please note that we would never charge you for more kWh than you have charged on your car. If you set a charge for 50 kWh, but you only end up charging 20 kWh, you will only be charged for the actual 20 kWh consumption. We always strive to be transparent with our users.
