Kleo: Spanish, Italian, German 4+

In preperation for my family getting ready to travel to Europe we started looking at language apps to help us out. I had tried DuoLingo and Babel before and even a couple others. Since it had been a few years I decided to take a fresh look. We heard from a friend that they had good luck with Kleo so we took a look at it. Just to be short and to the point- we loved it. Its got interactive video with real life speakers / teachers. The software is able to ACCURATELY interpret your pronunciation and give you feedback. Its literally like taking a language lesson with a qualified teacher in person. The video and sound respond quickly and smoothly- so theres no delay or buffering as you use it. its efficient and gets me learning the things I need to know to function within the culture. Love how technology keeps improving to make the things we want to learn easier. As far as I'm concerned Kleo gets me speaking the language I'm learning most efficiently without a lot of other gimmicks to get me there. Top notch....a whole new level up in the app world for language learning!

I really like the concept of this app, but the voice recognition is so frustrating. There are so many times that I know that I’m saying a word correctly, but it won’t recognize it.

I started using a different app before trying this one out, so I had a head start on Spanish language studies. Through level 3, I know at least 75% of the words that they are teaching (but don’t mind the reinforcement), but with that there are plenty of words that I know how to say correctly and I get counted off for some of these words it doesn’t properly recognize. We’re talking about some really easy words too… like fácil… not a difficult word to say (pun intended), but the app won’t take my pronunciation.

I really like the concept of the app but I think there are some technical issues that need to be fixed. Those really frustrate me. The other issue is that the app seems like it will not take you very far should you want to achieve a higher level. My goal is to be at least a B2 level speaker, but from what I can estimate based on how much I have left to go, this may take me up to A2 level, but not go beyond it. I’m about 35% of the way through and it’s introduced 250 words. I know about 1,200 words from a different app and I’m not nearly finished with their A1 level.

I have tried numerous apps in my quest to learn a new language, but I quickly lose interest.
After a friend would not stop talking about a new language app that was just released called Kleo, I had to check it out.
