Typing 600 now means $600 instead of $6.00, with a dot key for cents and math keys, so an annual bill of $600 can be entered as 600 / 12 and saved as $50.00. If you already use Beacon you keep the keypad you know. Switch in Settings > System. Improvements • Categories. New transactions are categorized using the latest category data from your bank connection, so far fewer arrive with no category. A category you set by hand is never changed, and nothing already categorized moves. • Savings and investments. Transfers to savings now land in a new Savings category and retirement contributions in Other Investments, so neither one gets proposed as a fixed expense. • Category folders. A new Shopping folder groups Online Shopping, Superstores, Convenience Stores, Discount Stores and Department Stores, and categories like Government Fees, Interest Charges and Dividends now sit in the folders they belong in. Existing transactions keep their category. • Category search. Searching matches the words people actually use, so "electric car" finds EV Charging and "warehouse club" finds Superstores. • Keypad gestures. Pulling down anywhere on the keypad closes it, and both keypads now show a grab bar at the top so the gesture is visible. Bug fixes • Bucket edits. Editing a bucket's target or status updates the Funding row's per payday amount straight away instead of only after you back out. • Funding schedules. The amount on a new funding schedule stays as you typed it after you tap the check beside the field, instead of reverting to $0.00 until the schedule was saved. • Banks shared across two budgets. What's new Apple Card, Apple Cash and Apple Savings You can now connect Apple Card, Apple Cash and Apple Savings from Add an account or by searching "apple" or "wallet". Apple Cash counts toward Free to Spend, and balances and transactions show up on every device on your budget. How Apple accounts update New Apple activity comes in when the person who connected it opens Beacon on the iPhone holding the card, at most once every 15 minutes. Improvements • Credit card payments name your card's payoff bucket. When you pay your credit card, the withdrawal in the account you paid from now shows that card's payoff bucket as where the money came from, instead of reading Free to Spend. • Pick which screen Beacon opens on. Settings > System has a new Launch Screen row where you can choose Home, Buckets or Activity. • Recent Activity. Transactions on Home are grouped under day headers again and laid out like the Activity page. • Transfer on Home. What's new • Card payments show as a transfer. A payment on your credit card account now reads as a transfer to your card, not spending. • See when a card payment is waiting. When Beacon is holding a card payment until the withdrawal shows up in the account you paid from, the transaction now says so and shows when your card bucket will come down. If you pay your card from an account Beacon can't see, tap Release now to end the wait and move the payment from your card bucket back to Free to Spend. Improvements • Free to Spend stays steady when you pay your card. When your card reports a payment before the withdrawal shows up in your checking account, Beacon now waits for the withdrawal, up to three days, before taking the payment out of your card's payoff bucket. What's new • Invite friends and earn $10. Share your invite link from the side panel or your profile, and your friend gets $10 off their first year when they start an annual plan. You earn $10 once they have been paying for 75 days. • Cash out your rewards. When you have rewards available, you can send them to your bank account. Stripe handles the setup, so Beacon never sees your bank details. Improvements • Recurring suggestions. Home and the onboarding expenses step now show at most 5 suggestions and leave out sinking funds with no clear schedule. The full list is still there. What's new Export your transactions Settings > Data > Export transactions lets you pull your history out as CSV or JSON. Pick a date range, or use a quick selection like Last 90 days or All time, and the file arrives through the share sheet on mobile or as a download on web. CSV opens in Excel, Numbers, or Google Sheets. Split transactions export one row per split, so the amounts still add up to what left your account. Improvements • Settings on web: now in the left menu instead of only inside My Profile. Bug fixes • Budget suggestions: they no longer include accounts you have removed. Beacon Budget release notes - 0.16.0 New Home Screen Beacon now opens to a dashboard with Free-to-Spend, Recent Activity, Upcoming Expenses, and monthly spending. It works offline, and you can tap straight into a transaction or into Insights. Upcoming Expenses shows as a list or a carousel, covering the rest of the month, the next 30 days, or the following month. Beacon Can Now Help Build Your Budget A new analysis engine reads your settled transaction history to identify income, recurring bills, and spending patterns, from weekly through annual schedules. It shows up in three places. Budget Checkup, if you're already set up. From the Buckets tab or Home, Beacon re-analyzes your recent spending and shows where your budget has drifted, like "You're trending $340/mo vs $250 budgeted", plus recurring expenses you don't have a bucket for. Every suggestion shows the amount it would change to, and nothing changes until you tap Apply. Budget setup, if you're brand new. After connecting your first bank, Beacon walks you through building your budget. It shows the income it found, lets you add anything it missed, then shows the recurring bills it identified so you can add them with a tap. Recurring card on Home, which surfaces recurring expenses you haven't budgeted for and what they actually cost you. Add one and Beacon creates the bucket with the amount and funding schedule. Getting Around Insights is now on the bottom navigation. The Profile tab has been replaced with a side panel holding everything that used to live there, reachable from detail screens too. You can also create a budget from the budget switcher, and long-press the profile icon to switch budgets. Improved • Saving a bucket returns you to where you came from, with the confirmation there.
