I love my Alen filters and their customer service is top notch. The app is just OK though. Forces you to have to enter your login credentials frequently. No option to at least save them with Face ID or fingerprint. You have to type the entire credentials in when this happens. Why do we need fort-Knox security protocols to adjust settings on air filters?? Please fix this necessary and annoying issue. The indoor humidity and temperature readings are blank. This is identical for all four of my filters which include two different models and are located in two different buildings. The screenshots on the App Store clearly depict a screen showing the indoor temperature and humidity. On all four of my units these values simply show as “- -“It would be great if the app team could get on-par with the product team and customer service team.
App goes to home page then shuts. Never opens

I am adding to my review. Originally, about 3years ago I easily connected my devices. A bit over a year ago I left the below review. After maybe 40 brain numbing tries I finally got my 2nd 45i to connect to the app. Ridiculous. Recently both of our devices became disconnected. Once again the app WILL NOT PAIR. The air purifiers are great but this has to be the worst app on the planet. If you can not connect your devices what’s the point. Once again I’ve tried to reconnect each device over a dozen times. After a 10 minute process it fails EVERY TIME. I have plenty of other devices and apps that require the same parameters and they connect and work. Don’t bother with the app when you can’t connect. I am not the only customer who has this problem. It would be nice if Alen would fix the problem. last upgrade 2.0.1 I can no longer get into my app. It opens to the Alen page and then closes. I have tried everything short of uninstalling and reinstalling the app. If I must reinstall the app I can not connect my 45i anymore because that pairing process will not work with my split 2.4/5 g Wi-Fi. So, I will lose connection to my purifier. Since Alen does not provide connection with this type of Wi-Fi the app will no longer serve a purpose. Really unfortunate. So, it would be nice if I could get the app to open without having to reinstall.

That doesn't seem right. Can you please reach out to our Customer Experience team at support@alen.com? They will put you in contact with the Product Manager of the app and he'll be able to escalate this to the proper parties.Additionally, if you uninstall and reinstall the app you will not have to go through the pairing process again since your data is stored in the cloud.
Disappointing App

I was hoping for a more useful app. It is not so much. An air purifier is basically a multispeed fan pulling air through a filter. So I would expect the app to display the current fan speed and allow me to change it. You can do neither with the app … it gives you no indication of the current speed or allow me to modify it. You need to walk to the machine. The app does allow me to turn ON/OFF the ionizer (sometimes). For some reason the ability to change the ionizer settings disappears from the menu. Then you need to walk to the machine. Maybe the next time I use the app the ionizer setting has reappeared. It seems to be a bugThe app does display basic Air Quality info (I have a 75i vers 2). If you click the “i” it displays this message: “We provide more detail on device detail screen about PM 2.5concentration”. So again, for this information you need to walk to the machine. I am sorry to say this, but why can’t the info be displayed in the app? It is crazy/lazy or incompetent …As other reviews point out the app requires precise location to make the initial wifi connection. I see a reply from Alen saying this is untrue … but their statement is completely false. In the initial app settings you can turn precise location off .. but then later when connecting to wifi, a popup screen occurs that explains precise location is REQUIRED. I found no way around this, Alen obviously does not know what their app is doing. The Alen app is what I would expect from a $75 purifier … not one that costs $900
Fully functional and fairly simple to use

I’ve been using the Alen app with my 45i purifier for the last few years and have had very few issues overall. The app isn’t terribly intuitive and I had to spend some time teaching my mom how to use it for her Alen air cleaner, as the main Home Screen has no clear way to access the controls for the cleaner. Once you find it, managing the controls is pretty straightforward and communicates well with the cleaner. The app does log you out every once in awhile and forces you to log back in, which can be frustrating. It does notify me when my air cleaner is detecting high levels of pollution, but tends to run on a 30-60 minute delay after the fact. It serves its purpose to control the air cleaners remotely but many features still need work.
This version of Alen Air features Credentials Memory with Face ID, Touch ID, or Passcode for easy log in, automatic firmware updates, improved troubleshooting for devices in a disconnected status, and adjusted temperature and humidity notification thresholds.
As we build towards a more advanced app experience, inclusive of a single air quality indicator based on all sensors, a comprehensive view of your entire environment, and personalized insights and rewards, as of this update, airID capabilities have been removed.
