Now useless

Have relied on the original Ballistic AE over about 15 years since it first came out. I was confused when I dowloaded this “new” version/update to enter recent load data and import target groupings. Most of the functionality and integrations that made the original unique appear to be gone. Can’t access the target logs or import new target groupings for analysis, the load data entry seems to have vanished, the vast database of bullet bc info seems to have vanished. The customizability of the original to build a comprehensive DOPE sheet, where you could get extract all the relevant information, including apex of your trajectory and rising and falling branches, quickly determine various PBRs, etc appears to have disappeared. Now the program looks like a simple ballistic calculator, and not even a very sophisticated one at that.

For more than a decade Ballistic AE was my go to for both developing hand loads AND using them in the field. I can attribute many successful hunts to the guidance it gave adapting range vetted work-ups to current terrain, elevation and wind. Since rebranding to Federal, the versatility has been decimated. What was once a comprehensive bullet library seems now focused on their in-house brands. No organization. Thank God for the Litz data which helped preserve some of my profiles but otherwise many were lost as what was once part of the library no longer exists. The app is no longer responsive to the user defined defaults. It takes you to where it wants to take you. Speed in adjusting conditions is severely hampered. A real disappointment. Used to be a great tool. No longer.

Updated app is awful

I used to love this app and have used it a lot for a long time. The current version is awful. Much of the data that I used regularly such as various loads by caliber and manufacturer are gone. There are limited options for some calibers such as .375 that used to have a large number of bullet options, and a decent library. The current version has almost no options. I am seriously contemplating dumping the app and using another. There was zero reason to make this app less functional and limit options. I am not normally one to write reviews or complain about changes, but this current version is a step 20 years backward

I bought this app over 15 years ago and it’s been my go to because it was quick and easy to use. I have taken the last year off from shooting, and was surprised last week when using it again and seeing all the projectiles that have been removed from the library. Now this update today takes the cake. Absolutely useless, the dope chart is worthless, all of my saved favorites have been stripped of their titles, I now have lists of BC and velocity instead of rifles and loads. The HUD is gone…..who thought this was a good idea?? Please change it back….you’ve destroyed the best ballistic app that was out there.
