So I’ve been using Chargepoint ever since I got my EV and it’s my tried and true charging app—it shows which chargers are available so you don’t waste your time going somewhere that’s already taken, and you can filter results to look for Fast chargers or specific networks. I also love that you can use the balance you’ve already paid for in this app to pay for chargers from other networks. I hate having balances just sitting in multiple apps. One thing I really wish they changed is how they charge you when your balance gets low. Currently it decides how much to reload your account based on usage and I can’t seem to find anywhere where you can control how much they take out of your account. It used to be just $20 at a time for me and then it went up to $40 when I get low. Although I get they’re trying to anticipate your needs for you, as a broke college student I’d rather see that money leave my account more as I go than lose more than I expected and not be able to pay for other necessities that week. If it was $20 at a time or whatever I set it as, I would be able to just notice how fast it’s being spent and adjust if needed. Example: sometimes I’ll take a trip and am using a lot of chargers so they reload with $40. But then I get back from the trip and just charge at home and am missing $40 for the next month. If I set this myself I would know I wouldn’t need that much for the next month and wouldn’t choose to reload with $40.Anyways this is the best charging app I’ve found and I really like the Chargepoint network! I would just like more control over how my account balance is reloaded.

Thank you for your review. It’s always a pleasure to receive nice comments — it means we’re heading down the right road. We’re so glad you’ve had a positive experience. ChargePoint drivers like you asked, and we listened. We offer the option to pay as you go instead of keeping an account balance. It’s one more way to make charging easier. Just navigate to My Account / Payment / Payment Type / Pay as you go in the app to update your preferences. Charge on, Team ChargePoint

Honestly use just about every charging System out there. This one “Chargepoint” in my opinion does it right. simple scan from the app stored easily in my apple wallet to the easy “prompt to plug in” to “charging” it’s the easiest system out there to follow. Not only that. From day 1. I have never received a message about connection failures or any issues from their stations like i have experienced from other vendors! solid easy to use and reliability. That’s been my experience. i have a HUGE REQUEST of this company. Can you please Replace and repair the Stations at the Jacksonville International Airport. Possibly replacing those with combination chargers that accommodate CCS1 High Speed Chargers as there are not enough of them here in JACKSONVILLE / Duval County and Sureounding Clay County, St. John’s County, Nassau County. St. Augustine. Gainesville. We need more Combination High Speed Chargers installed NOT NOT NOT what we have currently. A Lot of broken J1772 Chargers. Can we just standardize one type of adapter for Charging? Like all vehicles use either The Tesla adaptation or the CCS1 Model. There’s too many variants of Charging and it’s really confusing the consumers out here. Anyway please add new locations of Charging stations to our region. as we have only 1 single location for your “Chargers” on Dunn Ave. here in Jacksonville, Fl. (Not enough) please add more. PLEASE. Consumer NEED!!!! Urgent Request!!!!! For JACKSONVILLE PROPER AND SURROUNDING AREAS!!!!! Thank you.
Chargers not appearing on app

So, a recent problem has developed around me were chargers that are active and functioning, are not connected to the app. The weird part is they are still connected to the ChargePoint system. I get a text after saying I have charged and my cost is deducted from my ChargePoint app, so they linked somehow. It is annoying because otherwise the ChargePoint app is much better at tracking my state of charge than the KIA app, so I would like to be able to check and not stay connected after my charge is complete. The inconsistency of the app also compounds another problem, which is the unreliability of the ChargePoint network as a whole. Since they are independently owned, there seems to be little quality control from ChargePoint Corporate over the functionality of each charger. In Northwest Indiana, I don’t believe it would be an exaggeration to say that 25% of the ChargePoint branded stations are not functional at any given time. This has gotten worse since the sunset of 3G, which many of the earlier stations used to communicate. While ChargePoint will always point to the “independent” ownership model as the reason for this, I ask them this question. Would McDonalds (also independent locations) be a success if fully 25% of the restaurants in a given area where closed during normal hours on any given day. I believe in ChargePoints mission, and I hope they can find a way to encourage owners to keep their chargers operable, or at least get the ones that never are ripped out.
Lots of Potential, Meh Execution

I use the ChargePoint app mostly to support my ChargePoint Home Flex L2 EVSE at my home. While the app is decent, it has seen few functionality enhancements in the last year, and there are a couple features it should have by now: 1- Ability to schedule more than a single “weekday” and single “weekend” on/off. At minimum it should support specific days and multiple on/off events per day. In our world of hybrid and non-9-to-5 work schedules, this limitation is baffling. 2- More analytics and ability to look into charging sessions and curves. My VW ID.4 has some issues of its own with regards to scheduled charging, and it would be so helpful to drill into the line chart or look at underlying details. Clearly the data is being captured, so please let us see it! In terms of support for public ChargePoint charging stations, it is all still a bit finicky — but such is the state of electric vehicle charging everywhere. I wish things would just work, like our experience with getting gasoline, but I am sure eventually it will. Lots of complexities here, most of which are not on ChargePoint. My earlier commentary on the Home Flex items, however, are entirely ChargePoint’s responsibility.

Thank you for the feedback on our scheduled charging feature for home and the suggestion to add more analytics around charging sessions. We’re always looking for ways to improve our app and overall charging experience. We’ve passed along your feedback to the team. Charge on, Team ChargePoint
