Description
McIntosh Labs is proud to offer the AP1 AUDIO PLAYER. AP1 offers you the ability to listen to the music stored on your iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch within the classic McIntosh experience. Featuring our signature blue meters, AP1 gives you access to your music library in a simple yet elegant interface inspired by the line of McIntosh audio equipment. Depending on a song's file type, the meters will accurately respond to the music level. AirPlay technology is included so you can wirelessly stream your music to an AirPlay compatible speaker system, like the McIntosh McAire.
Tap the McIntosh logo at any time to access additional features including a history of McIntosh and a dealer locator so you can easily find a showroom to experience a legendary McIntosh system firsthand. Ratings and Reviews
Beautiful app, but glitchy and no longer supported
Beautiful UI, but unfortunately you need to keep it open for it to work. If you switch to another app, the music stops playing if you try and return to the player. If your phone display is set to turn off after a minute or two, again the app will stop playing and the music must be re-started. The only way around it is to keep your iPhone display on indefinitely and not switch to another app. Looks like McIntosh, has stoped supporting it sadly. Understandable as it’s a free app. I would have paid good money for this if it was working properly. This was too good to be true, sadly. The only to have to have that McIntosh experience is to shell out big bucks I guess.
Some Issues Need Resolved
I actually really like the way that this app allows you to play music from the library on your phone, and get the cool blue McIntosh meters! However, as other reviewers have stated, this is not a good Music player. If you open another app while music is playing, and then go back to the McIntosh app, the music will stop playing altogether which basically makes this app unusable in my opinion.
Like it the way it is !
It could use a little polishing, but is very capable. I'm glad the streaming media app is separate. It won't be for the typical i-crowd, and it's not a light-show, so don't expect it to be. It's a concise Bluetooth-enabled (now "AirPlay"?) player that couples well with a B-tooth receiver that bridges flash memory digital music storage with your audiophile equipment. It also lends itself to album playing more than one-song "beats", although a playlist is available. Very surprised to see it available, and very pleased to get away from i-Want your credit card. A+ for simplicity, A- for app implementation.
