The app does virtually all the things a computer does

You could travel without a laptop because the few things you cannot do are the sort of thing you only do when doing some serious bookkeeping with your accounting software. Anyway I take a MacBook Air because other apps have even more restrictions. Even at home I do much of my banking on this app, and not on my desktop. The website is also much improved, although downloading files in CSV format produces one L-O-N-G line for ALL transactions instead of one line for EACH transaction. But that’s the website, not the app. The phone app is great.

Terrible App, worse company

App is terrible, constantly freezes and closes, 99% of the time I have to log in on their website to do anything. This whole company is really behind in banking technology. I really hate to leave this review but I don’t want anyone else suckered into this bank. I had a small loan with them for credit building purposes because I heard they were such a great bank. Every month I log in to try to pay my bill & every month my external account does not show up. I end up having to pay over the phone & they will charge enormous late fees. My payment was $10 and I was charged a $40 late fee! Every month I’m told to try again linking my account. I try and it won’t let me make payments. I finally spoke with someone yesterday who told me my account “is not eligible” for ach transfers. I.E : I cannot pay my bill. I was trying to pay it off to get away from these people but they literally would not take my money. She told me I had no other option but to mail a paper check. I don’t even have a checkbook! Who uses checks still? I’m convinced they drag this out every month to be able to charge a late fee. It’s really disheartening that this is a bank made for our servicemen and women. I’d hate to think they are taking advantage of others the way they have me but I’m certain I’m not the only one. Stay far, far away from this bank if only to save yourself the aggravation of a bank stuck in the last century.
Terrible App, worse company

Mobile deposit feature no longer working even after updating & reinstalling app

I've been a customer with PenFed for over two years now. I was impressed with them until most recently, now I'm considering banking somewhere else. It's very unfortunate because I just opened a couple CDs with this bank.I have been unable to deposit checks to my checking or savings account for several weeks now. Every time I select "Deposit" it buffers and then kicks me back to the main menu with the error "You are currently ineligible for this service." No other description or reason why I suddenly can't deposit checks remotely. I sent a message in the app that has apparently gone unnoticed as well. I would try calling but they really haven't been very helpful in the past. The mobile check deposit error is extremely inconvenient because there are no PenFed locations in my area so I'm stuck with checks I can't deposit right now. I also have never had issues with this before now, so I don't know why it's suddenly stopped working. I've updated the app several times and reinstalled it at least twice now. The error persists. A fix would be nice, but I'm losing hope here.

The app is buggy and many features are not executed very well. First, latest iOS and app versions on iPad Pro. When accessing many links, a pop-up warning displays “Your browser is not supported….” I’m using your @$#%$@#W% app … not through a web browser. If the app is simply a disguised web browser, then this entry completely supports a 1 star review with evidence from the app/PFCU site itself. But that’s not all, I use the iPad with a keyboard. The landscape display is fine on startup but when I attempt to make a mobile deposit, it force rotates to portrait mode. OK, so I have to select the drop down and enter the text sideways (keyboard remember). When I go to take a picture of the front and back of the check, it rotates back to landscape for the camera action then back to sideways portrait rendering for the image review. When satisfied with the image review and completing the deposit, the app brings up a concur box but places it over the top of the check images so there is no way to read the text to know what you are concurring on exactly. This has been an issue for some time now so it’s obvious PFCU does not truly care about the customer experience enough to make the app function better.
