Too limiting and inaccurate

Winds are generally given in 10 degree increments. The app clicks off one degree at a time. The default should be 10 degrees (with option to tighten it to 5 or 1 degree increments). When I put in runway 26 and winds of 260 at 20 knots, the app calculated both a headwind and a tailwind component,With the tail and component exceeding my 10 knot limitation. This is not possible. Also, some limitations (like tailwind)Including gust limitation. I can see no way to input a guest in the app.

I'm sorry to hear that the app didn't live up to your expectations. Regarding the first point, the app already allows you to increment by 10º. to accomplish this, long-press the +/- buttons. As for the second point, please take a second look at the app's user interface. The display simultaneously shows wind components for both runway directions, in this case, 26 and 08. So, in the described scenario, the app doesn't indicate that you've exceeded both tailwind and headwind limits for runway 26 simultaneously, as stated in the review. Instead, it shows that runway 26 headwind limit and runway 08 tailwind limit have been exceeded. Not the headwind and tailwind limits for the same runway direction. Please don't hesitate to contact me if you like to explore this further.Safe flying

Thank you so much for this application, it's just the exact application I have been looking for... It's easy, handy, fast and amazing for fast decision of which runway is in use even when you are offline..... I just tried to use it now Abd found out that the new button u added was actually good for all the runway and wind speed ... It's just great update.....I will surely tell my friends about it to get it and rate it... Thanks

This app has not been updated in years. The basic functionality is there, but it has not even been updated to fit the larger iPhone screen size. Don’t waste your money on this.

Auto Rotate would be a big improvement

I definitely like this free app. The 1 big improvement would be to add auto rotation from portrait to landscape mode. In the cockpit I mount my iPad in landscape mode which makes using this app a little bit of a pain. Otherwise, it's very helpful and has attractive graphics.

FlightWinds now includes worldwide airport and runway coverage. - Search by airport name, ICAO, IATA, or FAA/local identifier. - Official FAA NASR data is used where available. - Airports without an on-field METAR can use a clearly labeled recent report from the nearest qualifying station. - Runway options remain available when no METAR is reported. - Airport lookup reliability and error messages have been improved.
