I’ve been using the csm website for sometime. Not sure if the app is new or I just finally discovered it, but I love it! Makes searching book and movie titles much quicker. The app design is clean and simple to use. And the concept of common sense media is as helpful as always, I love being able to check movies/books before allowing my son to view them. Since every kid is different and can handle a different level of stuff it’s nice to look through the comments and different aspects of each review so I can find something that is truly suitable for my child. I definitley recommend becoming a member, I have been for a while now because I would hate finding new content without the help of this app and the website.

Great content, mediocre app

Every shred of content in this app is excellent. It saves me so much time and gives me so much peace of mind.BUT — the app just isn’t great. Especially for a subscription. It starts when you open the app. I use Common Sense at least once a week (usually to look up recommended ages for different movies and kids shows), but I am almost always prompted both to identify my age and log back in whenever I open the app (even if I used it as recently as the day before). The only apps I use that log me out this often are those with sensitive financial info.Once you’re logged in, get ready to wait. This app has some of the longest load times of anything I use. There’s a lengthy load time just to finish logging in and get to the home screen. Then more waiting anytime you search, and more waiting to load anything you select. I have an iPhone 16 Pro with plenty of free storage, and my experience is the same whether I’m on 5G-UC or out super-fast home WiFi.Once you’ve searched for something (and waited for the load times), watch out for little glitches, loading errors, etc. This is especially true anytime you’re trying to scroll through a long list of results, or if you have any more than a couple of items saved to your personal list. I will continue using Common Sense because it’s the only place I can get this content, but I resent this 2015 app user experience every single time I open it.

I have relied on Common Sense Media to help guide me since my children were little. they also help me figure out various gaming platforms like Minecraft Roblox. In fact, if it weren’t for Common Sense Media, my children would have none of these games. Not only does Common Sense Media share credible reviews, they also give tutorials how to set up parental monitoring on gaming platforms. I’m so grateful for this resource, I tell every parent I know.
Helpful and easy to use

Typically, I use IMDb to find things to watch and I use JustWatch to figure out where to watch it. Recently, I have been more in the mood to watch things that won’t covertly change me into a person I don’t want to be, if that makes any sense, and Common Sense Media’s app and website are very helpful to that end. My favorite feature is the “Recommended Alternatives” section at the bottom of a review.
