Spreadsheets and physical notepads is how I kept track of the shows and movies I watched. Then I kept track on whatever streaming service I happened to use. Now that streaming services have become like cable I wanted to consolidate all the shows and movies I have watched. Lots of apps out there offer this service but almost all of them will harvest your personal data. I'm not about that. The fact that data isn't collected is a huge plus for me. The full functionality of the app is only $5 - unheard of in these days where everything is a subscription!
One of the Best Tracking Apps!

I spent the past few days testing out everything this Movie Tracker app has to offer and I am blown away. It’s the perfect balance of ease plus detailed customization. I love tracking everything I watch and being able to organize my backlog into spaces is perfect. Spaces vs smart lists are great options too because they serve different use cases for me! Just an incredibly well thought out app overall! (Plus I really enjoy the Book tracking app too)The only reason why it’s not getting 5 stars (yet) is because there are some day to day use cases that I wish it had. For example, marking something as watched could be slightly easier or prominently displayed. Also, searching online is great but I’d love for more realtime results as I’m typing. Small but meaningful changes would make this app absolutely perfect for me! Otherwise, it’s a 4.5/5! Highly recommend the subscription or even the lifetime purchase if you can swing it.

Thanks a lot for the thoughtful review, really appreciate you taking the time to test the app so deeply. I’m glad to hear that Spaces and Smart Lists fit your workflow, and that you’re enjoying both Movie Tracker and Book Tracker.About your suggestions: marking an item as watched has been made more prominent in recent updates, so it should already feel quicker and easier to access. As for real time search results, that’s something I’d love to improve and I’m actively exploring ways to make the experience smoother as you type. Thanks again for the detailed feedback and for recommending the app. It really helps shape the next steps.
Love Book Tracker - Similar Qualities for Movies!

Love it, if you want to organize and keep ‘lists’ of movies you own or want to watch then just buy the lifetime - so worth it! 4 stars for room to improve; 1) series and order in series [we all know the titles and release dates aren’t consistent with storyline, especially so in Marvel or Star Wars universes, so if I can’t change the title then give me series/order] 2) next up in my watchlist [this is available for tv shows but if I can mark a space/list as currently watching then show me the next movie to watch] 3) order sorting in spaces [alphabetical is default but allow me to order the list in my preferred watch order, separate of the series watch order, which makes my second point more valuable] 4) if possible, connect to my streaming accounts for auto-tracking what I watch but don’t sacrifice current cost if this would increase the cost.
Good app, but user experience not there yet

I like the app, visual design is nice, and I am able to make it work for me. But it’s cumbersome to use for the the most common tasks it’s meant for. One is you can’t use it to easily track movies you’ve watched in the past because entering a movie as watched requires a date. So you either have to make a best guess on when you might’ve seen the movie, invent your own convention for entering stuff like using the movie’s release date as the “watch date”, or you just track movies you’ve watched since getting this app. All of these options stink. The second issue is to log a movie as watched, the movie must first live in a “space”. This is either the Backlog space, or a custom space you create. Adding a movie to the Backlog is fine when you’re tracking something to watch in the future. But once you watch it, and you mark it as watched, the movie will appear in a Watched space (which is nice) but you are required to either leave the movie in the Backlog space (which doesn’t make sense since you’ve now watched it), or it has to be moved to another space you create and name. This is frustrating. The movie is already in the Watched space. That’s all you need most of the time. Why does it have to live in an additional space. It’s nice to have this as an option in case I want to organize what I’ve watched into additional buckets, but it shouldn’t be imposed. I end up having to invent unnecessary “spaces” just so I can mark a movie as watched.Again, the app looks nice and you can make it work for you, but for a movie tracking app, it doesn’t have a user friendly or efficient workflow for adding watched movies.

Thanks for your feedback. They'll help me to improve the app further. Regarding the watched items, in the backlog and in the spaces there is the option to hide the watched movies and tv shows. You can enable it in the menu in the upper right corner of the items list. For further feedback or report, send me an email to support@movietrack.app
