This app is a home network data collection device. There’s no monthly subscription for the app because all unsecured data passing through your home network can be gathered up and sold to data brokers. The app can pull from Bluetooth and WiFi. It’s disturbing the amount of information that can be gathered via Bluetooth alone—you’d be shocked. These are common practices, for sure but this company and app have a brilliant business model that leverages a new-parents’ fear and requires them to pay for the data collection device, the “baby monitor.” All that this app and device do is provide accelerometer data. That’s it. Is your baby’s body moving (breathing in and out), and in what position is your baby? That’s all these devices do. Yes, this works. But my one star rating is for the app’s interest in data mining *me* through my devices and home network.

The app shows the device is offline often. It is no longer reliable.
