I had my Twitter/X account hacked apparently and needed to delete certain tweets within a particular set of dates. This app lets you do it for free. And it worked without a hitch. I’m grateful for this app and I will be definitely keeping it in my back pocket for other uses as well. The app saved me so much time from manual deletion of my tweets, I figured I might as well write a review about it. 🤷♂️

Very happy to hear it worked for you!
Doesn’t even fully delete my Steam comments.

I used to like this app. It was very useful helping me delete all my Steam comments, but now for some reason I’m only able to delete Steam comments on profiles even though it says I can delete my comments across Steam. It doesn’t help that when I DO try deleting Steam comments on profiles with this app it just gives me errors. Why am I only allowed to delete Steam comments on profiles rather than across the entirety of Steam? Even if I try deleting the comments on Steam profiles, it just gives me errors and I can still see the comments on said profile. I really wanted to like this app more, but I shouldn’t be restricted to only being able to delete Steam comments on profiles instead of the entirely of Steam. I have a subscription, but I don’t know why I can’t just properly delete every Steam comment across Steam.

Do I really have to be the one to break the bad news?

I was excited about using Redact when I tried it on Bluesky and it deleted my old post without a problem. But when I used it with Facebook, I realized the posts were not truly deleted. They were only moved to the trash. That means there is an extra step required to permanently remove them.If you have already gone through and deleted a lot of old posts, only to discover this second step later, cleaning everything up becomes a very time-consuming process. This should really be disclosed up front for people who are serious about getting offline. That said, I think the app shows tremendous promise, and I hope the team addresses this issue soon. Kudos to them for building a tool that helps people take control of their online presence.

Hi Elliot,These posts will be removed from trash after a set period of time. They won't be visible to the public, they are just there in case you need to archive them!
Good concept, but persistent bugs are holding it back from actually being useful

Works okay for most content, but I’ve encountered a lot of bugs that make the app not worthwhile. Like here on the iOS mobile app, there a bug so you can’t log in to Reddit with Gmail SSO. So if you have a reddit account that you’ve only set up with Google SSO, you can’t use Redact and have to go set up a password on Reddit to make it work. Also this app seems to have a bug where previously edited Reddit comments are never targeted, making it basically useless if you have edited comments. I think this is supposed to be a premium feature you can toggle on and off, but looks like skipping already edited comments mistakenly is toggled “on” for non-premium users instead of “off” like the feature under advanced settings implies. Either needs to fix this bug or improve messaging if this is the intended outcome. And if it can’t remove all of your content, there’s really no point. They’re clearly trying to get you to buy premium, but if the free options given don’t even work properly, I’m not likely to shell out out money for premium. Good proof of concept, but needs a lot of work still.
