Compared to the first one, there are some cool new features and improvements to things like the upgrade system, as well as more enemy diversity and new towers. However, even when I select easy some of the levels are so hard to three star without power ups, abd the coins to gather power ups are a bit tedious to collect if you’re stuck at a level due to difficulty. Some levels feel like there’s only one solution, which feels like it limits a bit of the fun. Also, it can lock you into a thing where you’re just barely scraping by on power ups, having to grind for coins, which is what lesser games use to push microtransactions. The previous game did t feel that way. All in all, though, a fun, well made tower defense game.
I Am Impressed

Everything in the game is well thought out. Towers and enemies each have a clear purpose, everything is balanced and the timing is perfect. The only thing that I am not sure about so far is that some of the towers, like the laser, are ‘hard’ counters - so if you don’t know that shielded enemies are coming and spent money on another tower before, you’re gonna take hits or lose. … I’m not sure if that’s even a complaint, as saving and anticipating are part of the game. Anyway, this game is very satisfying to navigate strategically. The original game was also perfect - only wish there were more levels.

It requires you to think and find the strategy. If you play on hard that will take a while. Or you can play on easy and get your research points faster, then go back and play hard; I bounced back and forth. Either way, it’s geared to be fully researched by the end of Level 19. The only thing I’ve bought with real money is ad removal. I DO MISS BEING ABLE TO TAKE OUT MORE THAN ONE OBSTACLE WITH THE SNIPE GUN. In the first game, after it was fully beat, my wife and I would go back and make our own challenges, like who can completely wipe out a board and have the most money left over. It’s still a five star for me and I’m looking forward to the next season.
Finally, but …..

Loved the first game but chapter 2 lacks the abilities of the sniper tower to punch through landscape as it shoots enemies. Also, the inability to purchase upgrades to turrets from completing the level is super grindy now. I loved the first Tactical War because it wasn’t a money grab. I purchased to remove the adds and open to the idea of supporting the development of the game. Just hope to see some of what made the OG so great weave its way into the sequel.
