Search finds what you meant. A word like "son" or "mark" now brings up the verses that use it, and typing a reference such as "John 3:16" then Return opens it straight away. Type a Greek or Hebrew word like "agape" to see every verse that uses it, and when your search is really a question, one tap sends it to Ask. Notes, journal entries, conversations and Explore all search the same way now, accents and all, and Explore can hand a word to Bible search. The narration highlight shows again during audio, and a verse you open after a trial ends keeps its chapter.

New readers now go straight to the Bible: the translation chooser at first launch is gone, and English opens on the Majority Standard Bible. VoiceOver now says who is speaking in Ask and in study conversations, which filter is selected, and when a reading path is still being made. A few screens no longer clip at the largest text sizes. Red-letter words keep the quote mark that ends them, the continue-reading button on the Bible home stands out in red, and Explore is a little simpler. In Ask, your newest conversation is now always at the top.

The Bible reader is quieter and quicker. The controls slip away while you read and come back the moment you scroll up. Section headings now mark the passages in the BSB, WEB and KJV. Jumping to a chapter or following a cross-reference fades you to the verse instead of cutting, and a small pill brings you back to where you were. The reading menu is down to what you change while reading: translation, text size, light or dark, and auto-scroll. Bold text now follows your iPhone's Bold Text setting.

The NLT, CSB, NKJV and NASB now read the way they are printed: where the Hebrew uses the divine name you see LORD, as in every other translation in Cardinal. Search in one of these translations now looks through its own wording, so "unfailing love" in the NLT finds the verses it should instead of coming back empty. Whole books arrive in a fraction of the requests, so continuous scroll and the compare sheet are ready sooner, and a chapter you read recently stays readable for a while if the connection drops.

Compare another language, not just another translation. The reader's compare picker now separates the two, so the same passage in Spanish, Korean or Russian is one tap away instead of a hunt through a submenu. At the lectern, Podium mode can show that second column beside your text, aligned verse by verse, so "where is verse 7 in the other one" has an answer. The chapter header no longer arrives already faded, and the chapter numeral now passes cleanly under the top bar instead of showing through it. If you read in a language other than English, the Quiet Time widget's phase list is translated now too.

Ask is built around your reading now. Ask about a verse and the answer opens right over the page, so you never lose your place. Answers end with a few questions worth asking next, and the first two follow-ups to a common question are free. Save an answer to your Notes. You can speak your question instead of typing it. Past questions are grouped by book, and a verse you asked about carries a small mark in the reader. If you choose, Ask can also see your highlights and notes on the chapter you are in.

On iPad, the Bible now keeps its books beside the page. Pick a book and chapter from the list and the reader opens next to it, right where you left off, with the audio player staying in the reading column. Notes and Ask work the same way, the list beside whatever you have open. Turn an iPhone on its side and the Bible home fits more books on screen, with Continue reading at the top. Books whose author is unknown now show just their name.

Two fixes. The cross-reference map opens to the map. Reaching it soon after a chapter loaded could leave you looking at a black screen, and it stayed empty for the rest of the session; it now waits for the references before it draws, and a verse that genuinely has none says so instead of showing you nothing. And a reading path you describe in your own words will no longer come back as a shelf of opening chapters. When the path built on your phone is a table of contents rather than a path, Cardinal hands you a curated one instead.

Thirty of the questions people actually ask about Christianity now have full answers in Ask, free, with no subscription and nothing to unlock. Why is there suffering, did Jesus claim to be God, can I lose my salvation, what happens when we die. Every answer cites the passages it rests on, so you can read the text for yourself. Ask something of your own and the free questions now come back every month instead of running out for good. If you memorize verses, the Ask option in a pack now works the way it does everywhere else in the app, and readers in German, Korean, Portuguese and Russian get replies in their own language more reliably.

Ask now quotes the translation it is allowed to quote, and the verse chip under an answer opens that same Bible, so the answer and the text finally agree. Answers arrive faster, and a question Cardinal declines to answer reads as a reply instead of an error. Shaping your own reading path is one screen now: say what you would like to read, tap an example if you want one, and pick how long and how much at a glance, with nothing hidden off the edge. A path that cannot be built says so instead of spinning forever. On a wide screen you can read two translations side by side, in portrait as well as landscape. Writing about someone you have lost no longer brings up a crisis note, and if you already subscribe, Cardinal recognizes it the moment you open the app instead of asking you to pay again.

Reading paths remember where you were, so trying another one no longer costs you your place in the first. You choose the pace now instead of describing it, a path you asked for keeps your own words on it, and Today names the reading you are about to sit with rather than only its chapter and verse. When what you describe is heavy, Cardinal answers with care and says who wrote the words it offers you. The editor repairs a path now, not only trims it. Asking about Scripture happens in one place: the Ask link inside a quiet time opens a conversation you can carry on, without leaving the sitting. Cardinal Pro is a single screen that names the thing you reached for, instead of an explanation followed by another explanation followed by the price. Stillness has been removed.

Sermon notes now open the passage you are writing about without taking you out of the note, so checking a reference no longer costs you your place. Red letters mark what Jesus said rather than the whole verse he said it in, so "But Jesus answered" is no longer printed in his voice. Memorize tells you when a verse crosses into a new level, and the mastery colours you earn finally show up. Quiet Time's Pause screen has a way out. Listen mode has been removed.

Quiet Time can be listened to from beginning to end. Turn on Listen and the whole sitting reads itself: the passage in a narrator's voice, the prompts spoken aloud, each phase moving on when it finishes. After seven in the evening a shorter sitting appears to close the day. Memorize remembers now, so verses you are still learning come back sooner, and hidden words joins first letters as a second way to practice. Journey stops share as a card of the place itself, Word Study is reachable with VoiceOver, and every new screen speaks your language.

Two bigger things this release. You can now record a voice note right on a verse: tap record, speak, and Cardinal keeps the audio alongside your written note, with a transcription. And your custom reading paths are yours to shape now. Edit any path you have generated, and every path you create is saved to its own library, so making a new one never overwrites the last. Sermon main points can be formatted, the compare column in the side-by-side reader loads bundled translations instantly and offline, and undo after a delete is easier to reach with VoiceOver. A handful of smaller fixes round it out.

Threads is a new way into Scripture on the Explore tab. Twenty-four lives, from Hagar to Paul, each told in a handful of moments and flown over the whole Bible so you can see where the story actually falls, from a cluster in Genesis to a single leap into Hebrews. You start from something you are carrying, being afraid, grieving, waiting, and follow it into the verses themselves. Every thread is free. This release also adds Stillness, an optional reading mode that keeps the screen awake and holds back interruptions while you read, and it fixes a few smaller things: the app no longer backs up bundled Bible text to iCloud, comparison translations switch cleanly in the side-by-side reader, and the reader keeps its place when you decline a language change.

The Bible reader is faster and calmer. Books open the moment you tap them instead of pausing first, scrolling stays smooth while audio plays, and the page gives you back a few more lines of Scripture at the top and bottom. Audio picks up properly when a book finishes, and the verse menu is quieter until you have actually highlighted something.

Cardinal now asks which Bible you want the first time you open it, instead of starting you in the King James Version and leaving you to find the rest. Every licensed translation comes with a free day, and the free translations never need anything at all. Explore's search covers journeys as well as packs, so typing a name finds the journeys about that person. Deleting a saved verse can be undone, the same way notes already worked. Reading is cleaner. The play button and the chapter pill used to sit on top of the words, cutting a line in half at the bottom of the screen and again under the book name at the top. They now rest on the page instead of over it, so nothing covers what you are reading. Books open faster. Tapping a book used to hold on a blank screen for half a second before the text appeared; now it lands straight on the first verse, and going back is immediate. Dark mode is warm again. The paper Cardinal is set on stayed warm in daylight but turned cold and grey at night, and it no longer does. Verse text also gets a little more room between lines in the dark, where light type needs it. Tapping a verse is clearer now. The actions you use most sit in a row at the top, and anything that opens another screen is grouped below it, so you can tell at a glance what will keep you on the page. Verse notes finally have a search field, and you can sort them in Bible order instead of by date, which makes finding what you wrote on a particular book much easier. When you write a note, Cardinal now suggests the cross-references for that verse so you can attach one with a tap instead of typing it out.

Every note in Cardinal now opens the same way. Studies, sermon notes and verse notes used to each work differently, and now there is one screen per note, no Save button to hunt for, and one clear way to delete anything with an undo if you change your mind. Your writing is kept as you type, and now the app says so. Studies comes with a finished example you can read through, so you can see what a week of preparation actually looks like before you start your own. Catching a thought while you read is faster too. A verse note takes one screen instead of four, and Cardinal will tell you what's new in each release right inside Ask.

Your outline is no longer stuck in the order you wrote it. Drag a point by its number to move it, and the point you decided belongs first on Saturday can go first. Studies and Sermon Notes now look like one place instead of two. Sections, headings and controls match across both, the Big Idea carries the same weight wherever you write it, and the full writing page is one swipe from the keyboard. Your studies and sermon notes also turn up in Spotlight now, so a message you spent a week on is one swipe-down and a few letters away.

Search now keeps your place. Tap a verse to read it, come back, and your results, your filters and your scroll position are exactly where you left them. It also stops leading you somewhere you cannot go. A verse you are entitled to read always opens, and if your free day with a translation has ended you can keep reading the same passage in the King James Version with one tap. Results are quieter to read, with the verse itself now leading each row instead of the reference. If you read in German or Russian, search no longer answers with unrelated English verses. And on the CSB, NKJV, NASB and NLT, word completion and spelling suggestions work for the first time.

Switching translations no longer means waiting. The chapter you asked for now appears as soon as it arrives, and the rest of the book fills in behind you while you read. This release also fixes a bug that could leave some readers unable to open any book at all, restores 24 verses that were missing from Numbers 1 in the NLT, and makes Bible book names follow your language the moment you change it.

Tap any word while you read and Cardinal now speaks it in Hebrew or Greek, so the original language is something you can hear, not just look at. The word study card tells you which pronunciation tradition you are hearing, and it says plainly when it cannot tell which original word your English word came from, instead of guessing at you. Search is clearer about which translation it is actually searching, and Bible search results load faster when you keep a lot of notes.
