Private AI chat. Your conversations are encrypted so that only you can read them — not us, not hackers, not anyone else.
AI assistants invite you to think out loud — about health, finances, relationships, career. But today, that thinking goes to a plaintext database that big tech companies, hackers, and governments can access.
Confer works differently:
- Your messages are encrypted with keys that only you have access to.
- Chat history, folders, memories, and attachments are all encrypted — we can't read them, train on them, or hand them over.
Features:
- Powerful AI with file attachments, photos, and long conversations
- Folders with custom instructions
- Persistent memory that learns about you — encrypted so only you can access it
- Works across iPhone and web
Confer is how AI should work.

A solid service led by a reputable developer, but the app needs work before it justifies its price. Currently, scrolling through long conversations feels sluggish, revisiting old chats brings long load times, and performance degrades during text rendering. The service offers state-of-the-art security and end-to-end encryption, but until the app improves, I think it would be a tough sell for those considering being a member.
1.7.1:
- Attaching a photo now happens at the speed of a decision instead of the speed of a committee: the drawer opens at the right height the first time, your picture appears the instant you pick it, and tapping away closes things without the little interpretive dance it used to do.
- Send a photo with no words and you'll no longer get a mysterious empty speech bubble keeping it company. It was lonely. It's gone now.
- Bumped up your iPhone's text size because you're a sensible person? Confer's replies finally listen and grow with you.
- Editing a memory in dark mode used to mean typing into a void you couldn't read. The void has been lit.
1.7.2:
- "Copy" now copies exactly what you selected. Just the words. The plain, honest words. Previously, copying a sentence would helpfully hand you the entire surrounding region like an over-eager houseguest packing your fridge. It has been told to stop.
- New "Copy as Markdown." Select something and grab it with its formatting intact — bold stays **bold**, italics stay *italic*, code stays `code`, links stay links, headings keep their #. Even select half a bold word and you'll get exactly that half, properly emphasized. It reads the styles off the actual rendered text, so what you copy is what you saw.
As always, we can't see any of this. You copied something private and we have no idea what it was. That's the whole point.
1.7.3:
- Fix for crash in conversation branch
