We also now say plainly that cooking chat goes to Anthropic's Claude. • The paywall now has a visible close button, and only mentions a free trial when your Apple ID is still eligible for one. • Every price in the app is pulled from the App Store, not hardcoded, so you see it in your own currency. • Archived recipes: we no longer promise a 30-day countdown the app never ran. They stay until you delete them. • A quick "Always check labels." reminder now sits next to any allergy note on a recipe. • Before anything is sent to Anthropic for the first time, the app now tells you what goes and asks first. • Restore Purchases now tells you when there's nothing to restore, instead of doing nothing.

Your tastes, handled with more restraint. Kabinet used to treat a favourite ingredient as something to work into every dish. Now it understands the difference between what you like and what a dish actually wants — if you love hot sauce and Calabrian chillies, that means you lean hot where it makes sense, not that chillies belong in dessert. • Palate, not a shopping list. Related preferences are understood as one trait rather than a checklist of ingredients to place. • Every recipe is checked before you see it. Kabinet now catches its own mistakes — an ingredient listed but never used, a step calling for something that isn't on the list, a bake with no oven temperature — and offers to fix each one in a tap. • Cuisines you cook, one tap away. The traditions you actually return to now appear as suggestions when you set a style, instead of being typed out each time.

CHAT ABOUT A RECIPE — You can now talk through a change instead of having to describe it all at once. "I only have cider vinegar, will that work instead of sherry?" — Kabinet tells you what it changes and what to adjust to compensate. "Also my tomatoes are plum, not cherry." It keeps a running list of everything you've agreed, and rebuilds the recipe once, when you're ready. Nothing changes until you apply it, so you can ask anything without risking the recipe you already have. Works on a whole dish or on one part of a multi-part build.

Two things from using 1.4.0. CHANGE ONE PART OF A DISH — On a multi-part build (a cure, a sauce, a pickle, each with its own timing), you can now change just that part instead of regenerating the whole recipe. Everything else stays exactly as it was. If the change moves when you have to start it, Kabinet says so. ASKING FOR A CHANGE IS EASIER TO FIND — The AI edit used to hide behind a small icon in the toolbar. There's now a proper "Ask Kabinet to change this recipe" field under every recipe, and a "Change this part" button on each component.

Kitchen Kabinet now cooks in registers. STYLE — Pick how a dish should be cooked, not just what's in it. Weeknight, Sunday supper, backyard fire, diner, bistro, or chef's table. Each one has its own conventions, technique ceiling and voice — and its own refusals, so a smashburger never arrives on a brioche bun and a chef's-table plate never arrives family-style. Effort is a separate dial, because backyard fire covers both a 20-minute chop and an overnight brisket. START WITH AN INGREDIENT — The chat now opens on a grid of main ingredients, ranked by what you actually cook. One tap gets three ideas in three different registers. ELEVATE ANY DISH — Ask for an elevated version and get real technique, exact numbers, and a substitution ladder for anything hard to find. Modifications now create a variant instead of overwriting the recipe you liked. COOK MODE — Step-by-step with the screen kept awake, one-tap timers pulled from the steps, and multi-part builds ordered the way you actually cook them. REPLIES STREAM — Text appears as it's written instead of after a long wait, with a stop button. BETTER MEMORY — Allergies and dietary rules are now a separate kind of preference: always sent, never guessed at, never dropped to make room. Recipes show which preferences shaped them, and one tap fixes any that are wrong. FIXES — Recipe scaling and metric conversion were wrong on mixed amounts like "1 1/2 cups", and "1 c heavy cream" could be misread as a temperature. Meal-plan swaps kept the previous meal's ingredients. Sharing a recipe ignored your scaling. All fixed.

Removed the pantry and shopping list stuff. Added cocktails, mocktails, and other mixology capabilities.

Chat that actually flows. • Recipe cards in chat are now collapsible — tap to preview the full ingredients and instructions before you commit to saving. No more "I guess I'll find out what I just saved." • Saving a recipe keeps the conversation open. Want to ask a follow-up, save another variation, or just keep cooking? You can. • Modify recipes right in the chat. Say "add jalapeños", "swap chicken for turkey", or "make it vegetarian" and a fresh recipe rewrites itself, ready to save as its own variant. • Improved subscription validation, rate limiting, and error messages under the hood.
