DrivePulse reads your car through an OBD2 adapter: fault codes explained in plain words, real fuel consumption, engine health and every trip on a map. No account and no server of ours. What's new in this version: • Full-screen trip map. On the trip screen, the button at the top right opens the map full screen, with the same gestures as before. • Save here, with a map. Save here now tells you the place is saved where you are at that moment, and the place card shows it on a small map. • The DPF on CarPlay. On diesel cars that report the filter data, CarPlay Diagnostics has a DPF row even outside a regeneration: load or soot, how long ago the last regeneration was and how long it took. The values are an estimate from the car's sensors. • Start/Stop: stops at the lights too. When Start/Stop switches the engine off at the lights, the trip no longer ends after a short wait: it carries on until you drive off. If you switch the ignition off yourself, the trip ends as before. • LPG: consumption no longer shows at half. On some cars with factory-fitted LPG that report consumption from the engine computer, the app showed about half the real figure. Now, if the car says it is running on LPG and measures the intake air, consumption is worked out from that with LPG values: in the trip, on the map colored by consumption, in the Live dashboard and on the car's screen. Trips already saved keep their old figure. • Low fuel on LPG and CNG cars. On LPG or CNG cars the adapter only reads the gasoline tank. The low fuel alert now says so, comes once per trip and can be turned off for each vehicle. • Your last tank reading stays. If the app restarts while the car is parked, it shows the last tank level it read and how long ago, on LPG and CNG cars too. • When the car gives no consumption data. If the car gives no consumption data, the trip now says so instead of leaving a blank, and that trip no longer counts in your averages and range. • Unlock reminders, only if you want them. When the trial ends, the app asks you once whether you'd like a reminder about unlocking and what's new. Without your yes nothing arrives, and you can change it in Settings, Notifications. Also: • In "Send to Home Assistant", the help for connecting DrivePulse to Home Assistant with HACS: three steps, with no repository to add by hand. Data goes only to your own Home Assistant, and only if you turn sending on.

In Year in review, your year in a few pages to share as a story: distance, trips and hours behind the wheel, your longest trip, fuel, eco driving and the fault codes that went away. No plate, no places, no money: you pick the page to send. • Automatic connection, parked too. The app connects to the adapter on its own again, even with the car parked: when it connects it asks the car a few questions, then stays quiet until you drive off. If your locked car sets off its alarm, turn off automatic connection in Settings. • Distance before the connection. If the adapter connects after you have set off, the app recovers the distance driven before from the car's odometer, where it can read it, and counts it apart from the GPS distance: in the trip, in the totals and in the work trip report. • Used car check. For buyers and sellers: with the car stopped, one read-only pass over fault codes, monitors, odometer and the other control units. It tells you what the car reported today; it is not an appraisal. The PDF and QR code come with the full version. • Trip replay. Speed, revs and consumption over time on the map, with a cursor and playback. • Before the inspection. Ready monitors, permanent codes and distance since the codes were last cleared, on one card. These are the readings from the car, not the inspection result. • Electric cars, charging included. A charge between two trips is recognized and suggested like a fill-up, with approximate kWh if you entered the battery capacity. On an electric car the price in Settings is the energy price. • The car's data in Shortcuts. "DrivePulse status" now also returns fuel, range, mileage, battery and fault codes as JSON, with the same names as Home Assistant. • More control units, more codes. Fault codes from the other control units on 16 makes, read-only and with the car stopped, plus 267 more manufacturer codes. A code without a description now gets its own card: the system, the type of fault and what to tell the garage. • Share as a story. The trip card and the month card also in portrait, for stories; the card for the garage ends with a QR code. • Large numbers on CarPlay: in the dashboard tiles the value takes the place of the icon. And the tiles you choose for the car screen also at the top of Live data on the phone. Both off by default. Also: • Mileage reminders alert you at the end of a trip. • At the start of each month, a notification with the month's report. • If the car moves while the trip is paused, an alert. • A default trip type for each vehicle, and the start or end address can be corrected by hand. • The work trip report in Statistics too, for a company car. • Misfires per cylinder in Extended diagnostics: experimental, on cars with the CAN protocol. • The Live Activity in the colors of the main screen, without the duplicate notification. • In Health, the 12 V battery only costs points when your trips show a weak start. • On some electric and hybrid cars, no more questions the car doesn't need.

Add readings the app doesn't know (command, formula and unit) and test them on the connected car, starting from a larger community database that isn't verified. Each trip shows the minimum, average and maximum of the PIDs you record, and you can import PID lists from a CSV file. • Home Assistant, if you use it. The app can send it the start and end of each trip, with fuel, distance, voltage and trouble codes, plus live values if you want them, straight from your phone. It's off by default, and the help starts with installing through HACS. When the free trial ends, automatic sending pauses until you unlock the app. • Start/Stop no longer splits the trip. A long stop with the engine off, at a level crossing or in traffic, no longer ends it while the car's control unit stays awake; and if it had ended, setting off again within a few minutes and a short distance continues the same trip. • Eco score trusts real consumption. A surge with the pedal held still no longer counts as harsh driving, and where the car measures consumption, surges and braking weigh less if you used less than expected. New trips only. • Every trip with its type: commute, personal, travel or business. After a few identical routes the app suggests it, but never fills it in on its own. • Hybrids and electric cars, counted right. The Plug-in hybrid profile counts fuel only on the distance driven on fuel. Electric cars no longer end the trip at traffic lights, and a hybrid running on electric, or an electric car that doesn't report revs, no longer disconnects mid-trip. • Quiet when parked. With the car parked the app doesn't connect on its own, and after a trip, walking away with your phone no longer wakes the car: on some cars that could set off the alarm. A button on the main screen connects when you choose. • The iOS 26 glass effect, off by default: translucent bars and cards in the app, the widget and Live Activities, now on every main screen. The way harsh braking and acceleration are measured has been fixed thanks to reports from the community: the speed read from the ECU only counts when it is a fresh reading, so a repeated value no longer turns into an invented braking event. Past trips keep their score. • Events on the map. Every harsh braking or acceleration is a point on the trip route: tap it to see the time, the speed before and after, and roughly how much it weighed on the score. A switch under the map shows or hides them. • Trip collections. Group the trips of a holiday or a period into one collection: a single map, all the telemetry together, shared or exported as if it were one trip. Your trips stay as they are. • Health explains the score. After a reading with the engine running it tells you why the score is not 100: how many points each indicator takes, what does not count and when the score you see comes from an earlier reading. Insight gets advice born from those indicators. The battery is normally judged only after two minutes of readings, and charging managed by the ECU is no longer a fault. • A new first start: a showcase of what the app can do, a card tutorial you can skip, and permissions explained before asking. • 225 more fault codes: Mercedes, Opel and Vauxhall, the Volkswagen group (Audi, Skoda, Seat, Cupra), with 144 new glossary entries. New cards are marked as unverified until a second source confirms them. Brazilian and Argentine cars are now recognized from the VIN and see their brand codes. • Import fill-ups from other apps, Spritmonitor included, choosing where to put them and in which currency. • In the car, clear: CarPlay and your car's own screen show Health with a single word and its color, and praise from the coach is green, not a warning. • Trips that don't end by mistake: after a suspension the timer restarts only when the car really moves, and if the GPS gives no position at all for fifteen seconds the trip still starts from the ECU, at the last known position. • Particulate filter regeneration, live: in the Live dashboard with the orange flame and, on iPhone, on the pill at the top. From the filter card in Health you open the regeneration history. • The workshop report is free and now also sits at the top right of the diagnostics screen, besides every trip: PDF and CSV together. • What your car reads: in the vehicle card you see only what your car has actually answered, never what the manufacturer declares. • A more solid Bluetooth connection. A command left without a reply no longer blocks the connection forever, and a real ELM327 adapter is no longer mistaken for an incompatible dongle just because it is slow. • The particulate filter, read right. On the car's own screen the filter row no longer shows twice, and filter pressure is only read on cars that actually report it: no more impossible values for a sensor your car doesn't have. • The other control units, on every make. The button on the codes screen that also asks the engine, gearbox and instrument cluster for faults is no longer just for the Volkswagen group: it is there on every make. Where we know which control unit to ask, we ask that one; on other cars the app asks a general question, and if no control unit answers it says so. Read only, never while you drive.

What's new in this version: • You can now use the app with your phone turned sideways: the driving dashboard moves the gauge to one side, the trip page shows the map and the numbers side by side, and statistics sit in two columns. • The Insights page has been rebuilt. Every tip says which data it comes from, the thresholds are your own car's, and at most five tips are shown up front. New tips include what cold starts cost you, your cost per mile and why, the gas station where you pay more, a battery that cranks weaker than usual, an engine that does not reach temperature, a fill-up you forgot to log between two full tanks, a trouble code that keeps coming back, a lease heading over its mileage allowance, and what sets your best runs apart from your worst on a route you drive often. A tip only appears when there is enough data. • If your fuel use goes up in the cold, Insights tells you so instead of raising an alarm. • Challenging a friend in the Eco Game is easier: there is a Send a challenge button, and a hint in Trips shows you where to find it. • Under the trip map, one tap chooses whether the route is colored by speed or by fuel use. Fuel use is only available when that trip has the data, and the choice is kept. • Fuel use now says whether the engine computer measured it or it is an estimate. When it is an estimate, the app asks for two full fill-ups to calibrate to your car. • On CarPlay, RPM and speed are always shown, also while driving, and they update much more often. • The Live dashboard shows DPF regeneration on vehicles that report it: it turns orange while it is running. • Clearer error messages. If a receipt cannot be read, the app tells you what to do: more light, the whole receipt in the frame, or type the numbers in. • The notification for a new record on a regular route opens your routes, and that page now explains what it is for. • Fix: with "Automatic backup" on, your parking spot and the widget map go into your phone's backup too. • A trip split in two gets merged from the list: the time that was not recorded stays written down. • Every fault code has its own page: what it means, how serious it is, what to do. Thousands of codes, manufacturer ones included. • The report for the workshop: freeze frame, permanent codes and engine data, as a PDF or a spreadsheet. • A car you sold gets archived instead of deleted, and trips recorded on the wrong profile move to another car in one go. • The Live dashboard says how fresh each reading is; the rev counter uses your own car's range. • The DPF is counted in distance between regenerations, with an estimate of the next one. Those inferred from temperature count from five minutes. • When a lease ends the mileage freezes, with the expected refund for the unused distance. • The mileage report for work trips is easy to find and use, with every manual change listed. • Receipts and invoices go into the backup with a switch, off by default. • Several due dates on the same day: one notification. If the phone has denied notifications, the app says so. • The connection explains what is wrong: wrong Wi-Fi network, generic adapter, silent engine computer. • When a trip starts or ends the app tells Shortcuts. • LPG and CNG: the second tank has its own capacity, price and fill-ups. • From the receipt photo the app also reads the date of the fill-up. • For an electric car the Insight tips think in kWh. • The Errors screen shows which of the engine computer's self checks are complete. • Expense log: fuel, AdBlue, tolls, parking and maintenance in one list, with the total. AdBlue can be added from the + button too. • Flex and ethanol: pick them in the vehicle profile, and consumption and CO2 use the right figures for ethanol. • Boost gauge: turbo pressure in the Live dashboard. • Fault codes from the transmission and instrument cluster too, on VW, Audi, Skoda, Seat and Cupra. • The live dashboard, a tap away in OBD Diagnostics. • Two charts in a trip: speed and fuel use.

Restoring your purchase now always tells you what's happening. • The profile switches itself when you move the same adapter to another saved car, recognised by its chassis number. Never while a trip is running. • Leasing and rental: contract and remaining kilometres under control, with a forecast for the end of the contract. • CarPlay split screen: choose what to see side by side: stopwatch, distance, temperature, Eco Score or speed. • The particulate filter is now also read on FCA MultiJet diesels (Fiat, Alfa Romeo, Jeep). • A summary of your trips, month by month or year by year, to share as an image or PDF. What's new in this version: • In refuelling and in reminders the sheet now scrolls and the number pad closes when you tap outside it, so the Save button stays reachable. On iPhone that pad has no return key, and with no way to dismiss it Save ended up covered. The same applies to the first-setup form. • Your car's costs, split by family: fuel, servicing, repairs and road tax sit in the same overview, and fuel finally counts towards the total instead of living only in the statistics. There is also the cost per 100 km, and you can file older costs under a family. • The workshop sheet: export your vehicle's technical data as a single sheet to hand to your mechanic, with ECU values, fault codes and the trip summary. The fuel type is now correct and the fault code table is no longer shifted by one row. • When we don't know, we say so: the widget states it has no data instead of inventing a score, and it no longer shows another car's data. The coach no longer leaves you the previous trip's advice when a new one has just started. • The odometer reads the right value: on some cars a non-standard source reported a wrong total. Now, when the standard reading answers, that is the one that wins, even after the connection is up. • Tank and fuel figures: on cars that expose the tank level, the app remembers which ones can report it and retries once the car is moving, instead of giving up. • The diesel particulate filter no longer appears on petrol cars, where there is none. • Distance driven with the combustion engine off is now recorded as such on hybrids. • What's new stays put: what you are reading now remains in Settings, under What's new. • The iCloud backup no longer uploads the same trips four times: it takes up far less space in the cloud, and you lose nothing on the phone. • New languages: Czech, Polish and Romanian join Spanish and Portuguese.

What's new in this version: • Trip pause: pause your trip from the phone or CarPlay during a fuel or lunch stop. It resumes only when you say so, and it stays one single trip. • Driving Coach: a new CarPlay tab with your eco score front and centre plus tips on your driving style, while you drive. The summary also appears in the trip's Driving Analysis. • Start a trip with your voice: "Hey Siri, start my trip with DrivePulse". By voice or from Shortcuts you can start, pause, resume and end a trip. • Your CarPlay dashboard, your choice, and now it says more: in Settings, pick which values appear on the car display and in which order. The big pace figure, revs when you are stopped and speed when you are moving, is no longer the one from a moment ago: it is now the avg and the max of the trip in progress. Coolant and battery can be read while you drive too, and there is a new box for the engine oil temperature. You add the oil yourself in Settings, car dashboard, because the grid holds eight boxes at most: on many cars the ECU does not expose it, and then the box shows a dash. With no trip running, the current value stays. • Why not 100: the trip card now always has the answer, item by item, with how many points each one cost. Before, if nothing had really gone wrong, the score just sat there with no explanation. • You can actually get 100: drive well and the full score now comes. Before it stayed out of reach even for people who had done nothing wrong. • A fairer eco score in the first few kilometres: on short stretches the score no longer uses fuel consumption as evidence, because a cold start says little. • Fuel economy in km/l: new switch in Settings, next to measurement units (km/kWh on EVs). • Correct distances: kilometres covered during a pause no longer end up inside the trip, and the stretches where the app thought you were stopped are no longer thrown away. • More accurate fuel figures: on cars exposing the tank level, per-trip consumption uses the real reading instead of an estimate. • iCloud backup: the automatic backup switch is now really in charge. Turn it off and trips, refuelling, parking and locations stay out of the phone's backup.

Alarm fix, a browsable map, and an eco score that adds up. • Data that stayed empty: on some cars the fuel level, the fuel mixture and the particulate filter were never read, because the ECU does not declare them even though it answers when asked. The app now asks anyway. • Alarm: with the car parked and the ECU silent the app stops querying it, and coming back into the app no longer reconnects the adapter on its own. On some cars that traffic set off the alarm. • Route map: browse it month by month, and only the months you actually drove show up. • Eco score: the "why this score" sheet adds up, and items the app could not measure are no longer shown. • Eco score: coasting now counts lifting off while still in gear, and on hybrids the stretches driven on electric. • Eco score: sitting in traffic costs less, especially on short trips. • Health: the score no longer wanders during a drive, and with the engine off it keeps the last real verdict instead of recomputing one on half the indicators. • Trips: throttle position, fuel trims, oxygen sensors and fuel type are now recorded during the trip, not only on the live dashboard. • Odometer: re-read during the trip. On cars that expose it, trip start and end become the real ones. • Export: a detailed JSON of a single trip, channel by channel, each with its unit and how well it is covered. • Maintenance: a reminder can repeat, every so many months or kilometres. • Backup: a backup made with a newer version now restores instead of failing. • CarPlay: every dashboard tile now says what it measures. • German: dates and month names now come out in the right language.

The eco score rebuilt from scratch, truer fuel figures, a more stubborn connection and most importantly carplay improvements. • ECO SCORE: it no longer counts how many times you braked, it measures how much energy you wasted. It looks at how you use the throttle, engine revs, air resistance at higher speeds and time spent idling, and weighs each of them against the kind of road you drove. It is much stricter than before: if your score drops, that is not a bug, it is the old version being generous. • CONSUMPTION: the calculation assumed a perfect air-fuel mix and ignored how much the engine enriches when cold and under acceleration, so it read low. It is now much closer to what your dashboard shows. And cars that do not expose an air flow sensor now use the exhaust flow one instead: where there used to be an estimate, there is now a measurement. • Cars that would not connect: when automatic protocol detection fails, we now try all nine of them ourselves, one at a time. No menus, no technical questions. Adapters that would not appear in the list on iPhone are fixed too. • Trips end when you park, even if you leave the adapter plugged in. • No more gaps in the map: GPS now runs in navigation mode, and if it stops the app notices and restarts it. • Trip arrival times were two hours off: fixed, and trips already saved are repaired on first launch. • Statistics: totals now cover the vehicle's whole history. They used to stop at the last fifty trips, so the more you drove, the more your total mileage could shrink on its own. • Fuel: you can now see how old the reading is, so a "full" tank from three days ago no longer looks like it was taken just now. • Last parking: no more false alarms. Cars with smart charging read 13.2 V with the engine running and that is normal, and a charged battery is no longer reported as flat. It now says the same thing as the Health tab. • The health score no longer jumps around while you drive, and the odometer can no longer go backwards because of a bad reading. • Less traffic on the socket with the engine off: after three unanswered questions the app stops polling the ECU instead of insisting for minutes. • The live trip card on the Lock Screen, in the Dynamic Island and in CarPlay now shows health too, and it comes back if the trip started with the screen off. • Trip detail: start and end elevation with the climb, which is the most common explanation for consumption that looks off. • False fuel alarm: as you switch off, the ECU can answer with zeros while it powers down, and the app believed them. You got "you're at 0%" with a tank just filled. Those zeros are now recognised and discarded. • CarPlay diagnostics: fault codes and fuel level are now at the top, where they were missing entirely, and whatever is wrong comes first. The "Fueling" row carried a fuel pump icon and read like the tank level: it is now called Fuel mixture and says the value is a normal trim. • Battery in CarPlay: no more false "weak charging" on cars with smart charging, same verdict as the phone. • Electric cars in CarPlay: the percentage is the traction battery, not fuel, and the 12V one is told apart. • Health: driving style is no longer scored on the eco-score, which measures fuel use and not the car's condition. It now counts harsh manoeuvres per 100 km and time spent with a cold engine, where most wear happens. A full 100 is reachable again. Thanks to Settimio Perlini of macitynet.it for two reports that went straight into this version: on first launch the make and model hints looked like values that were already filled in, and the trip card said "petrol" even on a diesel, very nice catches.

What's new • Your drive on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island, with distance and time. The clock runs on its own, no need to keep the app open. • New panel in Settings → OBD2 Adapter: which parameters your car's ECU actually reports. • This version requires iOS 16. Fixes • The Apple Watch is no longer flooded with notifications during a drive. • Plug-in hybrids that start in electric mode now record the trip. • No more false "refuel detected" while the car is moving. • Petrol cars are no longer mistaken for diesels on the DPF screen. • Budget adapters that were wrongly rejected now connect. • Adapter search no longer gets stuck. • Connection errors now appear in the app's language. • CarPlay shows miles if you use miles. • Fixed the monthly cost per mile. • On some BMWs the app no longer queries the ECU while parked.

Trips. One of mine ended by itself while I was sitting in traffic with the engine running, and another time it would not end at all after I switched off. Two opposite problems, one root. The app now tells three situations apart: stopped with the engine running, stopped with the engine off, and ignition off. And silence from the adapter is no longer enough to conclude you have switched the car off. Refuels can be corrected. Tap the wrong one and change litres, cost, date and mileage. The mileage is the one that matters: a wrong number there throws off the tank-to-tank figure for the whole series, and until now the only way out was to delete it and start again. Reminders and service logbook entries can be corrected too. Fuel economy. In some conditions the average came out higher than the real one, by as much as a third. And the tank-to-tank calculation never started if you had left the mileage blank, which the form did not explain. Vehicle health. The score jumped between 82 and 100 within the same drive, and it was the battery. On recent cars the alternator stops charging once the battery is full, so the voltage swings between 12 and 14.7 volts and that is perfectly normal. The app now looks at the peak to decide whether it charges, and at the level it holds over time to decide whether it charges too much: two different questions deserve two different measurements. Engine mixture now shows on the Health screen as well, not only in extended diagnostics. Those two values were not being read during a drive at all. Particulate filter. On diesels that declare it, the ECU itself now says whether a regeneration is running, instead of it being inferred from exhaust temperature.

Maintenance done properly. On every service you now log the mileage and what you spent, and you keep a full logbook of everything you've done to the car, with the running total. So at year's end you actually know what it costs you. alesi_97 gave me the idea in the Reddit comments: you were right, thanks. Automatic backup to your iCloud, so your data can't vanish anymore.
