Maythorn Garden Planner
Frost dates measured nearby
Free · In‑App Purchases · Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS.
Your last frost date, read from the weather station nearest your garden and shown with its distance. Keep the season journal beside it.
Most garden apps guess your last frost from a map. Maythorn reads it from a weather station,
and tells you which one.
Set your garden's location and Maythorn finds the nearest national weather station with 30
years of daily records. You get the median last spring frost, the one-in-ten-year late frost
that careful gardeners plan against, and the first night warm enough for tomatoes and beans.
Every date carries its source: the station's name and how far it sits from your garden.
Where a country's records are not open for this, Maythorn says so. It will not show you a
date it cannot stand behind.
THE FROST WINDOW
• The median and the one-in-ten-year last frost, plus the warm-nights date, for each garden.
• Station name and distance stay on screen, so you can judge the number yourself.
• A coast station and an inland one can sit seven weeks apart. That gap is the point.
SOW AND PLANT NOW
• A month view of what is safe to start this week, crop by crop, from your station's dates
rather than a national average.
• The home screen carries the same answer in one line.
SEASON JOURNAL
• Sowed, potted on, planted out, harvested. Dates and notes, per bed or per plant.
• The notebook you already keep, in a form that survives the winter and the phone.
SEASONS SIDE BY SIDE
• When did the beans go out last year? Every crop you grew in more than one season lines up
in one grid: first sowing, planting out and first harvest, year against year.
YOUR GARDEN'S OWN FROST RECORD
• Log the frost nights you see yourself and Maythorn builds the measured record of your
garden: latest spring frost, first autumn frost, season after season.
• This works anywhere, including the countries whose station archives stay closed.
PERENNIALS AND FRUIT TREES
• Rhubarb, asparagus, apple, blackcurrant. The plants that stay in the ground for years,
kept beside the annual beds instead of in a second notebook.
• Each plant keeps its own page, season by season: when it was pruned, when it cropped.
ANY CROP
• Add a crop the catalog does not carry and it is tracked like the rest. No seed-shop lock-in.
EXPORT, ALWAYS FREE
• Your whole garden as a file, whenever you want it, in the free and the paid version alike.
FREE AND PAID
Free: one garden, full frost guidance, and reading and export of every saved season.
Pro: unlimited gardens, perennials and fruit trees, and your seasons side by side. Your own last-frost median from at least three logged spring seasons.
Pay once. No subscription, no account, no ads. Your garden stays on your phone.
The frost forecast asks MET Norway for the coming nights at your garden's location, rounded to about 1 km. Nothing goes to oomny.
Station data comes from the national meteorological services, and every station is credited
in the app with its licence.
Ratings & Reviews

This update is about the years your garden builds up.
• A new garden agenda: Today, Sow, My garden and Journal tabs, with a sowing timeline for the months ahead.
• The frost window by season: in spring the plant-out date for frost-tender crops leads, in autumn the first autumn frost, each point on a line with its dates.
• Your own garden: correct the frost dates by a few days for a sheltered spot or a frost pocket, with the station's measured dates kept beside yours.
• Late sowings checked: a sowing that will not crop before the first autumn frost now says so.
• Frost forecast: the coming nights at your garden from MET Norway, below your measured frost window, with an optional frost warning.
• Beds and crop rotation: put each planting in its bed and see what grew there before, with a note when a family comes back too soon.
• Seed box: every packet, how much is left and until when it is good.
• Photos in the journal: from the camera or your library, on each entry and on each plant's page.
• Home Screen widget: what you can sow and plant today at your station.
• Also new: entries for watering, feeding and pests, expected harvest dates, journal search, carrying last season over and a printable season overview.
• Seasons side by side: Pro lays out every crop you grew in more than one season in one grid, with the first sowing, planting out and first harvest of each year.
• Every past season is free to read: the journal and your own frost record open any year you kept, with or without Pro.
• A page for each plant: see how long a plant has been in your garden and its entries grouped by season. You can now edit or delete a plant.
• Pruning in the journal: log pruning as its own entry, so a fruit tree's page shows when it was cut each year.
• Where each plant stands: the plant list shows the latest thing you did with every plant.
• Made for the iPad: home, journal and plant screens now use the whole screen instead of a stretched phone layout.
• A picture for every plant: fruit trees and plants you add yourself now have an illustration too.
