I have never interacted with a company with such a high level of incompetence, indifference toward customers needs, and yet superficial pleasantness on the phone. The superficial pleasantness will engender misplaced trust and lead you to call them again when their promises are unkept. The mixture of incompetence and indifference towards your needs though will finally lead you to realize this company is a scam. That they have built such a presence in New York City is outstanding considering they refuse to reimburse for services. Enrolling in The Difference Card is a mistake. Spending time collecting documents to send to them for reimbursements is a further mistake. The reason for the length of this review though, is the atrocious customer service, really the worst combination of incompetence, indifference, and false hope. Stay very far away.

Incredibly difficult to use

This app has given me trouble all along the way. I was unable to register even though I am positive all of my information was correct. After I was finally able to register (on a separate attempt on a separate day, using all of the same information) the process of submitting a claim is incredibly challenging.If you have to upload a picture of a receipt or explanation of benefit (required as one of the last steps) and go outside of the app to take a picture or screenshot, you have to start the entire process of submitting a claim over again. If you try to take a picture ahead of time and then upload it into the app, the picture has to be a SQUARE! A regularly sized rectangular picture will cut off some of the necessary information. Additionally, nowhere on the claim information does it ask for an explanation of benefits specifically, only for a provider receipt, so I learned, after following the app’s claim process, spending 25 minutes logging in, starting the claim, taking a picture, then having to RETAKE all the pictures as squares, log in AGAIN, start the claim AGAIN and then submit the claim, which went through, that the claim was rejected a day later for not having the EOBs.I also only learned this because it seemed as though the reimbursement was taking a long time so I logged back in and saw there was a message about my claim denial after logging in: no notification, no email.I’m convinced this program is an attempt to keep money in the hands of the insurance companies and affiliates because who in their right mind with families and children and jobs and responsibilities has time to go through this process every time they need a reimbursement. For me, it would be $10 every time I submit a claim (my provider does not take debit cards), which adds up, but it’s also just low enough where I see how the stress might not feel worth it for some.

The main reason I downloaded this app was so I would have easy access to information on what the Difference card will pay and what I am required to pay when I am at a providers office. This information is not easily accessible. Instead of it being on the home page I’m still required to download a document or go to the website and open a document that is barely legible.
