This app is helpful keeping track of potassium intake however it would be nice if there is a place to add notes to help keep track of symptoms

Difficult but helpful

It’s not a quick and easy app. To add coffee you say add new food. Enter coffee in name and if you google potassium in coffee, it’ll tell you the amount. About 49 mg per 100 mig of coffee. Most people will drink by the cup so 1 c. And so on. The interface could be easier. I’d like to see them add a goal intake. My mom has renal trouble and needs her intake below 2000 per day. I should be able to set this do she sees in red when she goes over. Or at least the line would be lower. This would be a great feature. Since this is the only app I’ve found, I’ll try to work with this. But I’m dealing with an 80 year old and hoping it’s not too difficult to teach her.

We have added in a barcode scanner, but the United States and Canada are the only countries requiring manufacturers to provide potassium content in the Nutrition label, so the data may not be available elsewhere in the world using the barcode. But you can add your own foods to the database. The app must know how much your different servings of food (eg slice, cup, portion) weigh to calculate your daily potassium intake in mg. So you need to provide the app with that information when requested. You will then be able to add and see potassium content per serving (eg slice, cup, portion) rather than per ounce or 100g of your food. The app is consistent and the same process will apply to all foods the first time you add them to the app. Alternatively you can use the app's 400-item database and serving sizes provided, which is very straightforward.
