Needs more independent third-party expert analysis

This has been an interesting app so far. I can’t say one way or another if it is good or bad in terms of privacy and security, so I think their product team should do more to seek out third-party experts to do a more thorough review as to the claims being made about security and privacy for Wire. The reviews here so far seem mixed and inconsistent. Or maybe some of the reviews are not truthful and may be put here by govt or competitors who don’t like Wire(?) One thing that is fairly obvious, however, is that they need to work on their UI/UX to make it easier and more intuitive to use. This seems to be a common theme for app developers in places like Switzerland and Germany. They know how to build things, but in terms of user empathy—a big question mark. I think the one privacy issue they do have is in showing so many users in the Search function when trying to connect with friends, etc. That feature alone should go. Not necessary and potentially intrusive, as some here have already shown by getting spammed with job scams, etc. Hope they will continue to make improvements.
Major new accessibility problem, used to be great.

I am a blind user of the app. I used to use it for work back until February, and I uninstalled cause I didn’tt hink it was needed anymore. In the last few days, i had to redownload and connect to a new team. Some time in the last month there ws an update that changed the messages part of the app. My screenreader (voiceover on apple ipad and iphone) doesn’t read the messages anymore. When I open a team or group or personal chat with a coworker, voiceover will read who sent the message, what time it was sent, that I can tripple tap to add reactions, but it will no longer read the actual messages. As you can tell, this is a huge problem. Thankfully the website version still works though it is majorly inconvenient. If this can be fixed, I’ll put my rating on five stars because in terms of security and overall past function, that’s what this app is. *February 2026 update*: this voiceover has been fixed, and as promised, I improved the rating to five stars.

I won’t talk about privacy features but the overall user experience. I have been using this platform for nearly two years along side Signal. I even encouraged a lot of my friends and acquaintances to download it if they needed to contact me. I was really disappointed with the amount of negative complaints they had about the general user experience and “bizarre laggy UI where simple tasks like sending a voice message would be like a puzzle”. That was the reason most of them uninstalled Wire. My point is the majority of people are seeking simplicity and would undoubtedly favor it over their own security and privacy and that’s why they use Whatsapp simply because it is user friendly not because they think it is secure and safe. For Wire developer team, please please please improve the user interface, at least make sending a voice message simple not laggy.Edited; Please please please fix notifications issue. I have been missing all notification and tried every possible solution and still not fixed
Very Good but with one key issue

This app is the perfect messaging app with the ability to draw images, send text, ping, and many more cool stuff. The problem though is that sometimes when you write a very very long message then it kicks you out of the app and you have to wait for your phone to start working again. Then when you re-open the app then it deleted the draft you had. To the Developers: Please fix this bug. I love to chat with my friends and family with Wire but this one problem is too much to handle. I have gotten frustrated several times by this bug so please fix it soon. It really is probably the only problem so keep up the great work!!
Fixed:
• Clearing content would sometimes remove a conversation from the list
• Blocking a team member was visible as an option
• Issue with default camera behavior when rejoining a call
