Clear, trusted health and wellbeing information for students in the UK, from getting ready for uni to life after you graduate.
Student life brings plenty of new things at once: a new place, new people, new routines, and often your first time sorting out your own health. This free app helps you look after yourself, know when and where to get help, and know what to expect when you get there.
WRITTEN BY A GP, WITH STUDENT HEALTH EXPERTS
Every page is written and checked by a GP and follows current NHS and specialist guidance. The app was developed with Dr Dominique Thompson, GP, author and former Director of the University of Bristol Students' Health Service, and with nurses and doctors from the Students' Health Service.
The app is made by Expert Self Care, which holds the PIF TICK, the UK quality mark for trustworthy health information.
PRACTICAL, NOT JUST INFORMATION
Pages are short and easy to read on your phone, and include tips you can use straight away. They also explain how things work in the UK, such as what a GP appointment is like, what a pharmacist can treat, and what happens when you call 999. That is especially useful if you are used to a different health system.

YOUR UNIVERSITY'S OWN SUPPORT
Choose your university in the settings and you will see its own page, with local services and contacts. The University of Bristol and UWE Bristol are the first to join, with more to follow.
HELP WHEN IT MATTERS
Phone numbers are tappable, and text services open straight into a message, so you can reach help quickly. The Emergencies section is kept simple and clear for moments when you need to act fast.
FOR EVERY STUDENT
The app is designed for students aged 17 and over at universities or colleges anywhere in the UK, including international students. Where England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland do things differently, the pages say so.
A LONG HISTORY, A FRESH START
The app first launched in 2016 as ESC Student, created with a team from the University of Bristol Students' Health Service, 31 students and NHS health professionals. It was later renamed the Student Health App. In 2026, it was fully rewritten, with new content on every page.
This is the first release of the new app, and the full launch is planned for early 2027. Your feedback helps shape it, and you can send it from the Feedback page in the app.
FREE TO USE
The app is free, with no adverts. Universities and colleges can add their own local page, which helps keep the app free for everyone.
PLEASE NOTE
This app gives general health information and does not replace advice from a doctor, nurse or other health professional. In an emergency, call 999 (or 112).
