I’m a former musician (non-professional- out of the music world for over 15 years) and recently joined a serious music group. Lots of music to learn in a short period of time. I wanted an app I could use on iPad (and not fumble with tons of loose sheets most use in rehearsals. I tried 3 apps with a few things I wanted: the option to transpose, good notations, ability to check or give pitch (keyboard pop up or anything similar in case nothing was available) and fairly simple (Didn’t want to be fussing during rehearsal tapping and scrolling looking for things or making notations.) This app was the only one that had all my wants. LOVE IT. I’ve also been able to add our recorded parts (a plus) for rehearsing and it’s been MORE helpful than expected. I had a small issue and contacted developer. They responded quickly and it was resolved. They seem to keep up (not just create, and dump like some developers do.) I am not a fan of subscriptions but made an exception for this! Considering the developers seem to be available if needed, the space I’m using in recordings and the convenience this is providing me- 100% worth it!

The BEST for singing scores

I’ll admit, I was looking for a free app that would help me with annotating pdf scores downloaded from IMSLP. A friend was using a similar app but that one cost money so I saw this and figured I’d give it a try. And let me say, this is SO much more than I would have expected. I can easily add and remove annotations, add custom colors and line styles to help me see those annotations, and one of the features I love the most is being able to move the annotation bar up and down over the page and to then move forward or backward in the score from that bar rather than exiting to the main interface, turning the page, and then bringing up the bar again. Bravo, Newzik, for realizing this need. Today for the first time I imported a score from photographs. Wow!! Please give this app a try because I truly think you’ll be as impressed and surprised as I was!

Great app for classical musicians

As a cellist who frequently plays orchestral and chamber music, this app, along with my iPad, is seriously the best thing ever. With my AirTurn pedal, page turning and fumbling with paper is no longer an issue. The editing function is so easy and flexible, and the fact that you can use different colors for marking and highlighting makes this app incredibly useful. Add to all that the fact that I can easily add any PDF to my music library, be it repertoire I’m currently playing or études and other practice work, not to mention keep all my students’ work in one convenient app, makes Newzik a complete game changer for the classical musician. If you’re wondering whether to take the plunge and use an iPad for all your music, I can wholeheartedly say DO IT, and be sure to use the Newzik app combined with a Duo AirTurn pedal. Such a worthwhile investment!

I’ve been using Newzik for a couple of years now and there is plenty to like. As a tuba player, this allows me to find music quickly. It never blows off the stand, and I always have enough light. I did have pay for the upgrade to 5.0 when I thought it would be free for existing users. But, I don’t really mind supporting the folks that provide such fine support to a product I use almost daily.There are two features that I would like to see: 1) white notes on black background. This would help greatly when the scene calls for blackout.2) the ability use the iPad’s camera to snap an image of a piece of music on paper and bring it directly into the library without going through one or two independent apps to change the image to a pdf.

In the meantime, you can already use the color inversion available in the accessibility features of iOS to get this "white notes on black background" effect if you need to.Regarding your upgrade to version 5, we put all our previous users' accounts as premium in our database, so you shouldn't have had to pay...
