It turns your volume buttons into full camera controls, so you can shoot photos and video while snorkeling, scuba diving, surfing, kayaking or out in the rain, without touching the screen. HOW IT WORKS Press Volume (−) to move through your camera modes. Press Volume (+) to take the shot, start or stop recording. Hold either volume button to zoom smoothly, from 0.7× Ultra Wide to 5× on supported iPhones. Everything you capture saves directly to your iPhone's Photos app, ready to edit and share. CAMERA MODES Choose which modes appear on your mode wheel in Settings → Select Camera Modes. PHOTO Press Volume (+) to take a picture. Hold Volume (+) or (−) to zoom before your shot. Capture up to 48MP on supported iPhones, and shoot Apple ProRAW on iPhones that support it. VIDEO Press Volume (+) to start recording and again to stop. Zoom while framing or while recording. Record in 4K and 60 fps on supported iPhones, with sound or with Record Audio turned off. SLO-MOTION Record high-speed video that plays back in smooth slow motion. Press Volume (+) to start and again to stop. TIMELAPSE Turn a long recording into a short, sped-up video. Press Volume (+) to start and again to stop. A counter shows how long you have been recording. TIMER Press Volume (+) and the app counts down, then captures hands-free. Set the countdown length and the number of photos in Timer Settings. BURST One press of Volume (+) takes a rapid series of photos. Choose 3 to 30 photos per burst in Burst Settings. SELFIE CAM Press Volume (+) to flip between your rear and selfie cameras, then capture in any mode with the camera you chose. DUAL VIDEO Record with your rear and selfie cameras at the same time. Choose picture-in-picture, split screen, or two separate full-screen clips. GALLERY Review your recent photos and videos with the volume buttons, even underwater. Captures cycle automatically. Hold Volume (−) to skip ahead and Volume (+) to pause. SLEEP Save battery between shots. Press Volume (+) to darken the screen, and press any volume button to wake the camera. I can only take one photo before it switches away :(

I cannot take more than one photo before the app switches to video. I click the volume plus button, it takes a single photo, and it switches to the video setting. Either my iPhone 7 Plus is registering phantom volume down clicks (which I see no evidence of in other apps) or the app is somehow lagging. Either way, it really hurts the experience of an app that seems super useful in every other regard.

App Makes Case Worthless

The case is fine, easy to use, it keeps my phone dry. But there is no way to use the iPhone camera without this terrible, laggy, buggy app. Went diving with it and about half way through the dive the app inexplicably stopped taking photos. Except it didn’t notify me or anything so I don’t have photos that I know I took (the app even blinked with shutter press like it does when it works). I have no idea why it stopped working. Additionally, I have a Pro Max iPhone and shoot in RAW all the time and clean things up in LR. The app saves RAW images as purple. What?? I don’t understand what is even happening. I tried taking it in to LR and PS and messing with WB and color channels but that did nothing. The app makes the case utterly worthless. When we went snorkeling the glare was so bad on the back of the case I couldn’t see my screen. I tried emailing the company about these issues and got no reply. What a waste of money. Maybe if they put some effort into updating the app it might be worth it. Don’t waste your money unless you see a newer app update than Feb 2026.

I’ve been using ProShot cases for several years, since they first came out. The case itself is good, and customer service for the cases is top-notch when I’ve needed help.The app, however, is still not good, despite several years of updates. My iPhone 14 overheats when the app is running. Also, even when on dry land, touch screen does not work. (I know touch screen doesn’t work underwater, but it used to work above water, for changing app settings or switching to selfie camera; today, nope.)I do like that it’s now simpler to toggle between video and photo, and I like the long-press to zoom in or out, although it doesn’t seem to be utilizing the different iPhone lenses when it zooms; I think it’s just digitally zooming the 1x lens. (Normally when switching lenses, the image shifts slightly due to the different positions of the lenses; when zooming in with the app, there is zero image shift.)Image quality is great with iPhone 14, especially with the pink filter for snorkeling. Here’s hoping the app gets rebuilt in time for a 2026 trip to the Coral Triangle — if not, I gotta bail and get something different. Which is a shame, because iPhone has such a great camera, and it’s sweet to have your snorkel pics right there in your photos instead of having to transfer from a different device like a GoPro.

For the heating problem, please make sure no other apps are running in the background, and try turning on Airplane Mode with Wi-Fi off. If the phone is actively searching for data or networks, it uses a lot of power continuously, which can cause overheating.Regarding zoom, our app currently zooms in digitally from 1.0x to 3.0x, but once you reach 3.0x our app switches to the iPhone’s Telephoto Lens to utilize Optical Zoom. When you zoom out to Wide Angle, our app switches to the Ultra Wide lens to capture footage. The iPhone must support Ultra Wide Lens and Telephoto Lens for these functionalities to work in our app - this includes all iPhone Pro & Pro Max models starting from the 11 Pro.Lastly, we recommend updating to the latest 8.4 version if you haven’t already, as it includes many improvements. • App Tutorial: practice the volume-button controls over your live camera, then tour camera modes, Dual Video, fonts and Underwater Mode. Replay it anytime in Settings → App Tutorial. • Pending saves: interrupted or unsuccessful photo and video saves can be reviewed and retried in Settings → Pending saves. • Smooth zoom: hold Volume (+) or Volume (−) to zoom continuously in Photo, Video, Slow Motion, Timelapse, Timer, Burst and Dual Video.
