Virtual Treadmill
Run & walk on any treadmill
Free · In‑App Purchases
Track any treadmill—no account needed. Now tracks your shoes' mileage and your treadmill's service schedule, and tells you when each is due. Bluetooth FTMS optional.
Virtual Treadmill turns any treadmill into a smart indoor running companion.
Tired of inaccurate treadmill stats? Set your speed and the app calculates distance and pace precisely, no smart hardware required. If you have a Bluetooth FTMS treadmill, speed, distance, incline, and elevation sync automatically. Start a workout on Apple Watch or iPhone, or use both together with live mirroring.
- Works with all treadmills: fully offline or connected via Bluetooth FTMS
- Start from Apple Watch, iPhone, or both simultaneously
- Speed and incline shortcuts for quick adjustments
- Set speed and incline with Siri, from iPhone or Apple Watch
- Accurate distance and pace, calculated from your set speed or synced via FTMS
- Tracks heart rate, cadence, active energy, and elevation gain
- Shoe mileage: log the distance on each pair and know when one is worn out
- Treadmill care: an odometer per machine, service due dates, and deck guidance for your model
- Mark a workout as a race, then filter your history to races
- Live Activities and widgets for quick stats and controls
- Metric or imperial units, heart rate zones, and optional media controls
- Privacy-first design: no accounts, no sign-ups, no tracking
- Customizable workout layouts on iPhone and iPad: choose and arrange the stats you want to see
- Body temperature, skin temperature, and heat strain for heat training, with compatible Bluetooth sensors
Perfect for runs or walks indoors, whether your treadmill is connected or completely offline.

The big one first:
- Workout Layouts no longer freezes the app. Opening it could lock everything up until you force-quit — it opens straight away now.
- Lose the connection mid-run? Your pauses and activity totals now survive the reconnect instead of starting over.
- On Apple Watch: set how hard a run felt with the Digital Crown, and the start screen sits properly on smaller watches.
- More of the app speaks your language instead of falling back to English.
- Plus, we squashed a few pesky bugs trying to keep up on the treadmill.

A steadier start, and a run that picks itself back up:
- Starting a workout is far more reliable: a belt that is already moving, or a treadmill still reporting its previous status, no longer stops the start from going through.
- Lost your treadmill mid-run? The workout now resumes on its own the moment it reconnects — until now only the automatic pause ever happened.
- The speed picker follows your treadmill's own speed range instead of assuming a fixed floor, and speed and incline both open on the value you are actually at.
- Steadier connections: each treadmill is checked once when it connects, and a lookup that fails no longer leaves things half-connected.
- Easier on the battery: with no workout running, the app now genuinely goes quiet in the background.
- Rate how hard it felt on a clear ten-point scale, with the Effort and State of Mind prompts properly translated everywhere.
- Better contrast in light mode, so the orange metrics actually read.
- Your Watch no longer beeps every half minute when an optional Health permission is switched off, and body measurements are now an explicit opt-in.
- Your saved shortcuts stay the way you set them instead of shrinking to whatever the connected treadmill reports, and Start honours "Use Apple Watch".
- Plus, we squashed a few more pesky bugs trying to keep up on the treadmill.

Bring the whole family along — and a lot more:
- Family Sharing: the subscription and the lifetime unlock now come in Family versions, shared with up to five family members.
- Pay monthly on the yearly plan: choose a monthly payment with a 12-month commitment instead of paying for the year all at once.
- The Track view now runs counter-clockwise from a bottom-right start line, like a real athletics track, and the lap brightens as you come round.
- Home shows where you stand: how many free workouts are left this month, and a clear warning if Health access is missing before a run goes unrecorded.
- Your treadmill's make and model now travel with your workouts into Health.
- Delete a workout straight from Sessions.
- Calmer screens: the music player steps aside when nothing is playing, and iPad gets its workout charts and layout sorted.
- Kinder to your battery: the app stops hunting for your treadmill in the background when no workout is running.
- Plus, we squashed a few more pesky bugs trying to keep up on the treadmill.

- More accurate elevation and floors climbed on treadmills that report incline.
- Steadier running cadence for a truer steps-per-minute.
- The Track view's position marker now moves smoothly between distance updates instead of hopping.
- More reliable Apple Watch mirroring, with fewer false connection hiccups.
- Plus, we squashed a few more pesky bugs trying to keep up on the treadmill.

1.8.5 Jul 16
This update is all about a smoother, steadier run:
- Smoother workout starts and Apple Watch hand-off — fewer stuck moments getting going.
- Speed changes you make in the app now reach your treadmill more reliably.
- Steadier reconnecting when your treadmill drops out or restarts mid-run.
- Richer Workout Details: floors climbed, a truer elevation curve, and average lines on your metric charts.
- Battery at a glance: sensor levels in your devices list, plus an optional iPhone battery readout in landscape workouts.
- Fixed the app still using your treadmill's built-in heart-rate reading after you turned it off in the settings.
- Plus, we squashed a bunch of other pesky bugs trying to keep up on the treadmill.

1.8.4 Jul 13
Lots of new ways to make your run your own:
- Make the workout screen fit you — a new portrait layout with one big stat, an optional date and day in the landscape clock, and a track lap length you can set yourself.
- Your preferences now sync between iPhone and Apple Watch, so you set them once and they follow you.
- Don't feel like waiting? Skip the start countdown — and that choice syncs across your devices too.
- See your climb as you go — an optional line on the live speed & incline chart tracks your total elevation gain.
- Richer post-run detail — a pace chart that puts faster up top, and your Activity rings right on the workout summary.
- Steadier live stats — max cadence no longer jumps to impossible spikes.
- Plus, we squashed a few more pesky bugs trying to keep up on the treadmill.
