TUPPERWAVE ,

Great concept, lacking usability

I really like the idea behind this app but I feel it is not user friendly enough - to be a user looking for something to do it works well but to be a guide or add places/events seems to be quite unusable for anyone that doesn’t have their own business.

My Places - Add your business to get noticed, great! But what if I don’t have a business? Can I add local landmarks or cool undefined locations? Would be nice to have some kind of peer review or moderation behind adding places.

My Events - Could be misused in my opinion. Unless it’s heavily moderated.

My Guides - it works well for the most part and the map functionality is ok but really limited on locations. There are thousands of incredible places in this city that could be listed here. My first guide I wanted to add a few but they just didn’t exist, which made the guide less appealing.

Notifications/account - would love to see a separation between creators and users, I can see a basic ranking system based on creation volume but integrating more statistics or awards could make it more fun and engaging for more users.

Just my two cents, happy to chat about it further! I’m out and about in Brisbane a lot!

Developer Response ,

Hi Tupperwave – thanks for your feedback! You’ve given us plenty to work with, so we’ll do our best in providing you with some answers.

Anyone can create a guide or event on the app, you don’t need to be a business. All that is required is for you to create an account.

You can also create a place that isn't a business. During the creation process, one of the questions required is “Is this place a business? Yes/No” it just needs to be categorized accordingly.

When creating guides, you can only add existing places that are already available within the app. As more businesses join, there will be more options - we already have over 3000 businesses to choose from! If you can’t find a business that you love, please reach out to them and encourage them to join.

All submissions to the Brisbane app are moderated before being published to ensure they meet our guidelines.

App logo… sexy it up please

Yet to use the app… but sounds like a fantastic app!! BUT… come on guys… surely marketing can come up with something more sexier / enticing than a boring blue font on a white background … this is an app about amazing restaurants, bars, social haunts right? Make me feel like I’ll miss out. And make me want to recommend the app… yeah? We all judge a book by its cover (even those that say they don’t…) and even more so those days. Make the B hot pink or purple? Currently looks like an app for a boring library event or somewhere random to catch a bus…

Easy Way to Explore Brissy!

Love the new Brisbane app, it makes finding new places, attractions, parks, cycling routes, and hidden gems a charm!

However, it would be great to see more information available for each of the different places. A simple ‘open in Google/Apple Maps’ would be good enough, or even just the ability to see more photos, opening times, etc about each place than just the 1 image and description currently available.
