Australian Geology Travel Maps is a field app that displays the best available data from the government geological surveys in interactive maps created by Trilobite Solutions. It does not have any reliance on cell phone reception in the field, and uses GPS so your location is always marked on the map. Maps are downloaded to your phone when have an internet connection, and from that point on, you are independent of the internet.
The simple geology maps are rich with contextual data - including shaded relief, roads, towns, tracks, rivers, lakes, geographic names, indigenous land, national parks & provincial parks.
App development, system maintenance and user support is fully-funded by subscriptions - there is no in-app advertising and your data is absolutely PRIVATE.

Great app BUT why tracking at all times & could do with CarPlay
The Gormangast Kid
I have been using the app now for quite a few years and find it very useful. So far I have used it in WA, SA, NSW and VIC. Having said that it is not evolving, in particular;1) It is till using location services ALWAYS time rather than the preferable While Using the App.2) I often use the app in car, (thats why its talking to me) so why no apple car-play. I am often scatting with local laws as I drive around looking for outcrop looking at the phone and my GPS.3) The overlay features between roads tracks and satellite are poorly resolved. Given the great public domain satellite I use it al the time.4) What’s with state boarders? We have to toggle maps and then colours are not consistent. Try looking for outcrop near Mildura! 5) It would be great to be able to make layers invisible. If I am only interested in the Blanch-Town Clay-stone then being able to see the roads and satellite imagery around would help.6) Unify ages so they are both named and have numeric values. If a stone doesn’t keep rolling it will collect moss.

Hello, The Gormangast Kid.Sorry, I wasn't alerted about your review so have only just seen it. This is a long one. Please send to me via the 'Contact us' page at trilobite.solutions web page. We can't use the review system for what will be a conversation. The location ALWAYS will be of interest to others. It enables the app to record your trail while your SCREEN IS BLANKED OUT. This is a must - else you would burn up your battery very quickly if you had to keep the screen on.
Thanks to the developers- great app 👍🏾

Wish these tools were around 20 years ago when we were all using multiple tools in the field to do fieldwork. Hard copy printed maps with grid overlays, topo maps, some in wgs84, some in other grids, matching up by adding 160m east etc etc gps, note pad, batteries, spare batteries, laptop, spare battery for laptop etc. Then pulling it all together when you got back to the office/home hoping you hadn’t lost a note page or got water on your note pad and you hadn’t made an error on coords or confused the utm grid. For a Fieldy that’s been around, I really appreciate the effort on the app and the information provided in the associated guide. It’s also very cheap. Not sure what else reviewers expect from an app like this? Suits me out bush.

This is the most comprehensive and versatile App I have found for my needs. I prospect and detect for gold all over Australia and use it to extensively research locations before I arrive at my destinations, then it’s used in the field to pinpoint these areas of interest. The Australian Geology App is so portable and has the great advantage that it can be used in those remote areas where there is no internet. Besides using this App for gold prospecting I’m constantly using it on a daily basis when I’m travelling around Australia. What a great education tool. The developer has created the perfect App and is to be congratulated. I can thoroughly recommend it to anybody who is travelling Australia.
Great app - ‘contact us’ currently not working
infant annihilation
Great app. As a geo I have an ungodly amount of screen time using this app and love it; can’t really fault it on anything I use it for. Recently bought a subscription to the VIC gold part for some prospecting but it’s not obvious what the green and orange areas on the map mean as a first time prospector. It would be handy if I could click on the area and it has a name and what you can do there i.e. can you prospect here, like the little coloured occurrences do on the resources database. Tried to use the contact us page on the website but currently not working for me, not sure if this is just a me problem or not.
Developer Response
Sorry for the late reply. I don't get alerts from Apple with this system. The 'Contact us' was out for a while - is fine now. The polygons with the gold map are mining leases and retention leases. Download the appropriate VIC data layer to get all the details.
Significant improvements to the user interface for iPads and Macbooks
More work on catering for light and dark mode
Improved the import of .mbtiles files and spatialite .sqlite files
