Rain Radar Australia displays up to the minute rain and wind radar data. Full screen mode, landscape support, pinch and pan zooming, favourites list, GPS location, nearest radars list, national radar, observation layers (wind speed, wind direction, rain since 9am), plus more. ------------------ Features ------------------ At start up choose to display the last radar viewed, your favourite radar, or the closest radar. No tapping, just get the radar you want to display instantaneously. Displays animated radar images full screen, single tap to show or hide all associated controls. Double tap to zoom in or out, or pinch and pan. Updates the available list of radars, and ranges, automatically as they become available without installing version updates. Displays an optional map pin at your current location if you have location services enabled. Displays all available radar ranges; 64km, 128km, 256km, 512km, and doppler wind. All available overlays can be turned on/off independently; current observations (wind speed, wind direction, rain since 9am), locations, range, districts, railways, roads, catchments, lakes & rivers, topography. Displays the national consolidated radar & satellite images. Caches static images for fast & efficient display. Supports landscape mode in all screens.

It is nearly what I want, but re-installing a new iPhone, my favourite weather radar app “Rain?”Is no longer available. To make this app just as useful, you need to be able to drag the radar map not just left or right, but in any direction. Also a button or option to see the whole of Australia with all the radar details showing, like on the BOM site. I would even pay if these features were added.

The radar images are clearer than on other weather apps and allow you to zoom in for a more localised view, as well as zoom out for a broader perspective.I’ve been using this app for years. It’s my go-to to know what weather is coming my way. Many a load of washing has been saved from a drenching. I also like to know what’s happening in other parts of the state where relatives live or to keep an eye on impending cyclones up north.

I love this site as it gives me the ability to check the weather all over our lucky country. When we are on holidays or just away from home it is comforting to know exactly what is going on.

I’ve used this excellent app for years and find its clean clear display and UI the best of the BOM-data based radar apps. It suddenly gave this error message for ALL radars and this continues after reinstallation. My guess is BOM have changed their data format per comments elsewhere but I can find no way to contact Verve to ask if they will update app. Even the AppStore developer link goes to a completely unrelated advertisement. So that just left this review as a plea for help - I’m happy to update the rating if the app is fixed. Meanwhile I’ve had to load another less appealing one.

A fix has now been released. Apologies for the delay & any inconvenience this has caused, noting that this is a free app maintained in my spare time, and breaking changes at the BOM are totally outside of my control. It would be much appreciated if you could update your rating & review based on the new version.
