Eclectic mix of programs including lessons and docos

Love Kanopy which I access through my local library.

I was looking for a doco called Landfill Harmonic and couldn’t find it to view anywhere… but then I checked Kanopy and they had it. So happy. I’ve watched it twice so far and will probably watch it again. I’m also doing courses on Kanopy which has some amazing stuff from The Great Courses and other sources.

I wish our library had a subscription that allowed a bit more content. I also wish that Kanopy had a yes/no button so that when you click on something it doesn’t immediately deduct from your allowed tickets but confirms you want to access that content.

Keeping Christmas

Enjoyed watching this…brought back memories of the brandonburg gate saga. Also I have a niece who lived in East Germany under Russian rule and she told me that when the Berlin Wall was knocked down she was frightened and asked her mother what do we do now?
She later went on to travel and work In London where she met my nephew. Later married and had a son in England and moved to Australia and had another son. They rented in Subiaco for some years and the two boys went to Subiaco primary school. I also, many years prior to this I worked at Subiaco primary school as a teacher for year 6 students. I now reside In Esperance.
Was lovely for the memories.
Thankyou

Kanopy with a K

My partner & I have had Kanopy accounts for about a year. The accounts were first activated at our municipal library in Melbourne, Australia. Kanopy is a welcome exception to the plethora of (primarily US owned & operated) video streaming platforms, that offer existing & commissioned film media to paying subscribers only. That is, Kanopy functions much like the extension to national television networks, who stream free media on viewer demand. The selection of media on Kanopy is reasonably broad, with perhaps an emphasis toward (copyright inexpensive) early 20th century Hollywood, & little known German film. The quality to Kanopy is very mixed. I would like to see language translation on non-English speaking films improved; film titles need to be universally made available under image advertising, & it is high time Kanopy separated short form film from long form film, rather than plonk everything together in a category “lump”.
