What’s New

Version 13.2.0

Some small ones but good ones, we think:

- Spread the good vibes of how you and your Solvers are improving our shared spaces. Add an After photo of the fix when you rate a report and we'll turn it into a Before & After that you can easily share.

- Once you share, track how many views your Snaps have gotten on your History screen.

- Your History screen also shows at a glance which Snaps you've rated — something many of you have asked for.

App is great, supermarkets aren’t

I’ve been using this app for quite awhile now, for work and home. It’s a great way to notify council if a playground is damaged, a water main is leaking in the footpath, graffiti in your area to be cleaned.
The problem is when it comes to supermarkets. They’re unresponsive to the reports, and elect to use their own reporting systems instead. I’ve lost track of how many times I’ve flagged my local (Woolworths) for finding their shopping trolleys littered around my suburb. They say it ‘works better for them’ to hire out trolley collection, than to institute a geo-located wheel-locking system on its trolleys - an ongoing cost no doubt reflected in their higher prices, than a one-off that keeps the suburb they’re situated in looking it’s best. But I digress.

TL;DR: the app works well for what it is, easy to use, takes the hassle out of who should be looking after things. The downside is the response (or lack of) from those receiving the reports.

Need to add Dan Murphy

Great app because it’s so easy to use. I use it a few days a week. Too bad some of the trolleys I’ve reported from Woolworths don’t seem to be acted upon. At one tram stop I reported 1 trolley 5 weeks ago. There are 6 trolleys there now. Seems one gets added each week. I spotted 17 Woolworths trollies around my block today. Let’s see how long it takes for them to be collected. Councils must make their collection by the relevant supermarket a priority with fines if they go for more than a week. Seriously. How can the supermarkets not get them collected - even after 5 weeks of reporting?

The app needs to add Dan Murphy trollies as well.

Developer Response ,

Hi, thanks for the feedback. We have now added the ability to report a Dan Murphy trolley to the app.

Third party app a bit of a thorn in the side for Council

Appreciate this app as a one stop shop but it can lead Council rangers on a wild goose chase when they’re given the location of an issue as chosen by the app user. In medium to high density areas street numbers on one frontage may not correspond and the actual address could be on the other side or adjacent corner. For most of my SNAP SEND SOLVE reports now, rangers will call me while in the field actively looking for the issue reported. I’ve now had to add an excruciating amount of detail in notes and also mark up photos so rangers can more easily locate what they’re looking for. Also, if the address reported isn’t 100% correct in relation to the problem then residents of a neighbouring property can be fined by Council when, for example, rubbish is dumped by one of their neighbours (which happened to the good folks next door). Hardly seems fair. I’ve now been directed by a Council ranger to cease using this app and send reports directly by email instead. Hmmm.

Developer Response ,

Hi Sam, we wanted to let you know we have recently made enhancements to our location feature to provide authorities with the most accurate location information. The new changes also make it easier to set and confirm your location. Let us know what you think by updating to our latest version. Thank you!
