One of the few reliable sources of independent news

From the calibre of the news reports, the informed opinion pieces and the reflective attention to the public discourse: The Age brings the real news.
Even within the standard of the comments, the commentary from readers reflects earnest responses from people who are invested in understanding the news at all levels. It is not encumbered by short inflammatory barbs, hate speech, or the type of news spread designed to conflate issues to pit people against each other.
The Age & The Guardian are both essential reading. One cannot be without news sources which are voraciously dedicated to the the delivery of independent news and information.

Sept 2024 iPad version is a horrible product to use

I am simply trying to read the newspaper front to back, occasionally (temporarily) jumping to a continuation of an article that I am reading before returning to where I was. I also want to view two pages of the newspaper In landscape layout so I can read articles that are centred across two pages, and so I can peruse the overall layout before zooming in on articles I want ro read.
Sadly, this new twitchy monstrosity jumps about the newspaper in a maddening way without offering any warning (e.g. ‘are you sure?’ that you want to jump to last or first page, or zoom in on an advertisement that I had not even seen let alone selected).
Also, some navigation button icons are not intuitive, do not align with those I would normally encounter and use, and sometimes behave inconsistently.
This is all a bamboozling disturbance to my sequential pass thru the newspaper. I hope those in control of this app appreciate that random article and page jumping are hallmarks of an unstable, poorly produced and tested app that is very annoying to its paying customers. Please restabilise this app for readers and remove the annoying surprises.

Back into the Future

I am not impressed with you “Exciting New Application”!!! Why o why do people change what is working perfectly well. I have been a subscriber to the Age for many years now and this is the worse revision of the application I can remember. I had previously looked forward to being able to read the daily edition in two page landscape mode. Like a real newspaper. I regularly used to take clippings of important articles. It was easy to navigate between the different sections. Now the exciting new application has neither two page mode nor clippings! Who did you consult to revise the application? Not the users! You make these changes and then tell me “Trust me, you will like it”. WELL I DON’T!!! The most probable reason you revised the application was to make it cheaper for you to support and therefore for you to make more money. To hell with the subscribers! Like all greedy corporations when asked how much money do they want to make, they always answer MORE!!
