What’s New
Version 6.0
OCTranspo has introduced a new data system which changes how BusBuddy acquires the real time arrival information. In the past, the data was provided by servers owned and operated by OCTranspo. Now, BusBuddy will use its own server to provide this information. With this change, cancelled and added trips will be more accurately shown. The bus ID (4 digit number) will be shown when that information is available. The type of bus (short, double decker or long) will also return to the app. Electric buses will be noted in Green.
As a result of this change, you will need to re-create your favourite stops and routes. This was necessary the internal stop numbers and routes have changed. Sorry about this inconvenience and thanks for continuing to use BusBuddy.
Ratings and Reviews
Laggy and slow to update
This new version is really laggy. Can’t get back to the default main page without having to force close the app.
Issue; still have to force close the app for it to update bus stops/times if you want a more precise time update. Unless you pull down to refresh but that takes longer than force closing and reopening the app.
Is this an upgrade?
I get the newer UI, but no excuse to compromise usability. I mean, honestly it is extremely annoying to use now. Doesn’t even scroll up or down properly, takes forever ‘cause I’m guessing you are trying to update all the arrival times or something, and it just doesn’t work smoothly. The side menus also, extremely slow. The color palette, not the best tbh, I do like the two options (dark and light) but somehow either one just feels heavy with that red-ish top menu and the grey odd-looking side menus. At least I didn’t lose any of my favs like others have mentioned, but I don’t think I’ll be using the app that much anyways until these things are fixed. I mean, I can live with the UI (I got used to the one you had before) but can’t have this be so impossible to use -.-“. Have a serious talk with your testers\QA smh. There is so much potential in this app. Please fix.
Terrible upgrade
Why fix what was not broken. It is now so fussy to navigate and takes much longer to find what you want.
