A developing app...

The service from A J Bell Youinvest is certainly second to non and continuing to exceed expectations all the time but the app is limited. Daily fund price increases are not available unlike on some other larger competitors and the research functionality via the app is limited but even so given the cost savings this is a very reliable and trustworthy app and lets you get the business done as robustly as anything else I use.

Bad security

While I think AJ Bell might be a decent company, their app makes me regret opening an account every day.

From a security standpoint requiring FaceID and 3 characters from your password and the answer to a security question isn’t actually very secure.

The 3 random characters of your password require them to store your password in plain text format to match against - which no company should be doing these days. The addition of FaceID and security question don’t inspire much confidence after these glaring security issues. Don’t get me wrong FaceID, if implemented properly, can be more secure than hand rolled bad password management, just most companies get this wrong so there is little hope for this app. 3 random characters also prevents me using a password manager and a super secure 15 random character password.

This update has broken the widget

So from the developers response below it would appear that this update has now prevented the widget from ever working again on my iPad because It doesn't have Face ID or Touch ID. If you find the widget useful and have an older iPad, don't install this update because the widget will never work again !!!

The update to the app is great, big improvement. But the widget is now broken ! It keeps saying Information not available, and asking me to login to the app to validate. I have logged in to the app, I have logged out of the app, I have left the app logged in and the widget doesn't work. I've deleted the app and the widget, restarted the iPad and reinstalled it all but still the widget doesn't work !
Any ideas ?

Thank you for your feedback.
For security reasons will only work correctly if you to turn ON the Touch ID or Face ID authentication.
You can turn this ON in the app Settings. Once you logged in, you can find this option selecting the "More" menu and then selecting the Cook Wheel on the top right.
If you disable the Touch ID / Face ID authentication feature the widget will stop working.
