Pretty great with some niggles

Been using the app for a year+ and generally like what it provides, although certain things are a bit clunky like when you’ve got more than one type of account. Would be neat if there was a whole portfolio overview as I’ve got the same fund across multiple accounts.

**BUG**: In the total fund manager charges for the fund with ISIN GB00BMJJJF91, the initial charge is £0, the annual ongoing is £7.80, so the total in my mind is £7.80, but the app says it’s £5.19.

The ‘amount’ the charges are being calculated for in this example is £6000, but it’s the same story no matter what value you put in. Perhaps I’m misunderstanding something though, which still means further clarification could be added in the app.

Developer Response ,

Thanks for leaving us this review. We appreciate your suggestion on a whole portfolio overview, which we’ve passed on to our Product Development team. We’ve also investigated the fund manager charges for GB00BMJJJF91 and have identified the issue. There’s a transaction fee of -0.04% on top of the annual ongoing charges (0.13%), which makes the total 0.09%. We’re aware that transaction fee isn’t currently displayed on the app – we’ll look into this. Thanks again for taking the time to give us your thoughts.

Bad security

While I think AJ Bell might be a decent company, their app makes me regret opening an account every day.

From a security standpoint requiring FaceID and 3 characters from your password and the answer to a security question isn’t actually very secure.

The 3 random characters of your password require them to store your password in plain text format to match against - which no company should be doing these days. The addition of FaceID and security question don’t inspire much confidence after these glaring security issues. Don’t get me wrong FaceID, if implemented properly, can be more secure than hand rolled bad password management, just most companies get this wrong so there is little hope for this app. 3 random characters also prevents me using a password manager and a super secure 15 random character password.

Developer Response ,

Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. We’re sorry to hear you’re unhappy with our log in process and we’ve passed your feedback on to our Product Development team. Thanks again.
