Great app once you get past difficult registration

Initially I rated this very low but turns out it was because of the registration. Basically it is quite confusing as you can't use your existing web login, you need to create a new one. And even then you need to know your security questions and get them 100% correct otherwise you will be locked out. Best thing to do is just call them up, although you might need to wait 30mins before getting through to someone.

Once you do get through this however, the app is actually pretty good and well designed. So the app makers have done a good job. Just a shame they didn't put the same thought into the registration process

Like a previous reviewer I initially rated this app and the service poorly. However I have now changed to 5 stars with a very positive review. I managed on the 3rd time of trying to speak to a customer service agent who was marvellous and very helpful. This time my call was answered immediately. It seems that to get the app to work you have to register a mobile phone number which is not clear in the initial registration process. Once you have done this the app is clear and easy to use. I have had no problems since and am very impressed. A mail contact received a prompt and helpful response too with every effort made to contact me and to sort the problem out. I would now highly recommend this app, this bank and the customer service. Please Al Rayan Bank - make it clearer that the mobile phone number is crucial for app use as not everyone is permanently living their life under the rule of the mobile phone! Thanks

Hard pass for current account. Avoid avoid avoid

I have banked with Al Rayan for over 7 years. The service has been shocking from day one (only reason I’ve stayed for so long is Islamic banking). The app is an utter disgrace. Use other bank apps and you’ll see why. You can’t control your card from the app, can’t freeze your card (what a huge security risk). It takes an hour to get hold of someone regardless of how HUGE the issue is. They charge you for replacing cards and the app is just horrible to use. The secure messaging takes over 10 days to get a response. Now they have said they will charge a fee to maintain your account. It takes a few days for money to show up in your account and sending money to other banks means it never gets there instantly, usually the next day. In my city there is now no bank to visit which is utterly ridiculous. You cannot even use your card with Apple Pay. If you need customers to stay focus on getting yourselves up to scratch; stay on par with other banks and maybe I wouldn’t leave. This is my last month of using a current account. Alhamdulillah. Allah save you all from sub par banks. Ameen.
