Money deducted but no tickets received

Use the apps first time after the update. It was working previously, but now I need to change the password and key in back the card details. Bought the ticket and complete the transaction, but the apps said the card cannot be used and did ot receive the tickets..However, the money had been deducted from the account. Trash apps after update..So the apps guy who update it work from home with booze all of the time???

Journey to Edinburgh

Carefully avoided weekends in order to avoid disruption Travelled from Reading toBirmingham on Cross country with no problems Arrived in Birmingham and checked phone for messages - none. Checked again 10 minutes before departure and received a message that our train was cancelled. Absolutely no other information or advice. However the train was still showing as on time and the platform signage advised it was the next train due in. It never arrived. It took 20 minutes before the cancellation was confirmed and we ( and about 20 others) were sent to customer. Services. We were advised to get the Preston train an hour later. Then they announced that the Preston train was delayed by 30 minutes, then 40 minutes,then 50 minutes and finally just delayed. Customer services were very unhelpful
We ended up getting a cross country train 2 hours later which cost us in excess Of £300 extra
We missed our appointment and dinner
No apology-just ‘don’t worry you can get a refund!
That was my first and last rail trip to Scotland.I have confirmed why I don’t use trains

Need better info re seat reservations/ availability

The Avanti app is easy to use if there are seats available on the trains you want to book. However, at busy times it’s a complete pain to have to work out if it’s the outward or return journey that’s fully booked - the app doesn’t specify - and to try to find a service with a free seat, which often takes multiple attempts.
For the Christmas/ New Year trip to Lancaster that I’ve just booked, it took me hours to work out that rather than all services in early Jan being fully booked as it says on the app, the tickets have in fact not been released yet. I’ve been trying to book a return ticket for two weeks!
So better info re seat reservations/ availability on the app and better info re tickets being released/ problems on the website please.
Thankfully your customer service department were very helpful and advised me to book an open return.
