The George Inn Nunney
Just come back from a week stay at The George. I can’t praise this hotel enough the staff are amazing, friendly, attentive and nothing is too much trouble. Our room The Church Suite was spotless and beautifully presented with what looked like a brand new bathroom. There was a bottle of Prosecco waiting for us when we arrived and a heart of rose petals on the bed. Tea, coffee, hot chocolate and biscuits provided too. Good storage space. The food is exceptional and beautifully cooked. The breakfast was included and set you up for a day of exploring my partner had the full English which is massive and amazing. I had different things such as smoked salmon and cream cheese omelette and Eggs Benedict etc all lovely. The lunch and dinner menu is extensive and the pub is lovely with lots of period features and lovely details like fresh flowers everywhere. We ate out in the lovely walled big garden at the back and a smaller one at the front it has a weeping willow and stream. We had a walk in the picturesque village of Nunney to the castle, the little church and checked out the guard house.
We explored lots of places near by such as Glastonbury, Frome, Longleat and Shepton Mallet Prison (a must see) which are about half an hour away. Weymouth, Western-Super-Mare, Bournemouth Poole and the Jurassic coast are all just over an hour away and lovely for days out.

Probably my favourite hotel app
Now that I am reasonably familiar with the various eccentricities and the usual flow to the app I find it helpful and reliable. Some of the time pressure special value grab it now deals I find hard to understand and I’ve lost some money in the past by clicking on the wrong thing in a bit of a time pressured panic. Also, I’ve noticed that what’s advertised as the price on one screen can sometimes change during the next couple of screens of the booking process so I find it a good idea to consciously set aside any feeling that I am going to miss out if I don’t rush and instead pay careful attention and take just a bit of time. I think I’m happier this way and if I am missing out for me it’s balanced by me not paying for things I didn’t want, which I think only leads to bad feelings all round. But my main stance is this is broadly speaking a useful and reliable hotel booking platform that I am currently content to use regularly.
Great but .......
I have used this app for many years and many trips very successfully but have found this time that changing credit card details after booking but before the payment date is a nightmare. I have 21 properties on my upcoming trip and had to change the card details on each separate booking and on my Edit profile page several times and even then not all of the changes worked. I have also had three very long telephone conversations with the Booking Customer Service Team who tried their best to be helpful but I’m still not certain the payments will be taken from the correct card. So that is the reason you only have four stars instead of the five I would have given. The Booking app itself without this complication is very good and easy to use once a suitable property has been found but I agree with other reviews that it could have better filters to make searching for preferred options such as en suite, bed size, parking availability, free cancellation etc easier. But that could be asking too much!
Also changing my card details appears to have deleted all my trip history and removed my Genius status which I’m not too happy about!
