Great app but doesn’t show all the chargers

Really well designed app. Lists nearby chargers and plots them on a map. Shows which ones are available. Login process worked well. However it’s missing so many chargers compared to the BP Pulse website. For example centre the app in Doncaster, it only lists 2 charge points at Asda (and it doesn’t map them). Then look on the website and you can see 8 more chargers in Doncaster. So, to find charge points I have to use the website because the app is missing so many. And yes, I have cleared all app search filters.

# Update # We have now released version 2.1.1, which might have solved the problem you mentioned. I would be happy to hear it is now working fine for you but please let me know if not at heretohelp@bp.com. Thanks!

Awful first charging experience

Used the app for the first time last night. The charge station wasn’t clear on whether it could be used exclusively with the app. The charge station touchscreen just gave a binary members/non-member choice which would then ask for payment card details or membership card details respectively. Nothing about the app. I took the initiative and found the station on the app (the station ref no. wasnt particularly obvious either). The neither the app or station screen offered any feedback on when the cable could be taken to plug into the car. The app just spent 5-10mins giving me cute non-updates e.g. “ready for lift off soon” and other such nonsense. Eventually an error message popped up on the charge station. I had to wait 5mins for this to clear itself. I tried the same process again, except this time tugging the cable on the charge station intermittently to see if it would be released. Eventually after a couple of minutes it did so and I managed to plug the car in and get it charged. Once the charge was complete, the app and charging station gave absolutely no indication what the cost was. In fact the app doesn’t even tell me what my credit balance is now, just constantly asking me to log in... despite me obviously already being logged in. The fact I got the car charged seemed more luck than judgement and I’m still unsure if I’ve even paid anything for it. This is precisely the fear that ICE drivers have with EV. Just a complete faff.

Developer Response ,

Hi - we are sorry for the inconvenience and regarding the fact you were asked to login constantly - please try again now, as we have addressed this issue with the new app version v2.0.6. And let us know if it still doesn't work for you. Also you can find your balance update and charge history by tapping the third icon at the bottom of your screen. Thanks!

Awful service

If I could rate as no stars I would. Downloaded app and registered ahead of time. First time user, added £20 to my account, set to charge and all was great. Came back to my charged car and there is supposed to be a disconnect button in the app but I did not have this option. I have brand new car and brand new iphone so tech is not the issue! Call customer service, no reply. So am stranded in a car-park and cannot remove my charging cable as no way to tell the charging point to disconnect. Eventually I deleted the app which seemed to reset things. So a complaint via Twitter, and the lack of customer care is just appalling. A week later I’m still waiting for an explanation! This is BP! I have zero faith this won’t happen again. Ironically the same thing happened a week before my incident with a man in a supermarket shopping car park - also BP Pulse. Same issue! So I was really careful to follow all instructions yet the same thing happened to me. Obviously an issue with the app! Use at your peril!

Developer Response ,

Hi - we believe we have now fixed this issue and you are now able to terminate a charge you started from the app. We deeply apologise for the impact this defect has had on you and we hope you will now be able to enjoy our service. We'd be pleased to hear it is now working well for you and kindly ask you get back to us if not.
