Used to be great
This card and app was perfect, but now gone down hill. At the airport trying to transfer money and it kept rejecting it, as i had uploaded a new card and it didnt recognise my card registered address despite logging into the website. I think had to send them a bank statement with address as proof- luckily my internet bank hsbc generates pdf statements
Anyway, it took 2 days to get sorted and messed up my trip. Theres no customer service in the evenings which i find a joke. It should be 24hrs like every other bank
Am looking for more reliable alternatives
Went on holiday abroad for a week found out on my first day that I could not use the card to withdraw any money or make any payment to buy anything. Tried cashpoint and flashed up saying refused by issuer. Contacted Caxton by phone multiple times to be told that it was an issue with Mastercard and not them and told me they would put it through as urgent on the 3rd day of me calling. I then rang again on the 5th day as no one had been in contact and they told me they will pass to someone else then I was told there was nothing they could do and that I needed to transfer my money over to a new card, I did not have any other card on me and if I transferred to uk bank would take 3-5 working days by then I would have come home. I was without any money all holiday and then they said we will give you £50 for an apology which I don’t think cuts being without almost €500 for a whole week.
Have now left Caxton as wasn’t any help !
App upgrade awful
Like others, I’ve spent a huge amount of time getting the new version of the app (9.0.3) on my phone to accept a password. Trying to reset the password in the app simply didn’t work and it locked the account several times. Eventually managed to set a new password and a new PIN number via the website and then eventually it accepted the new details on the app so I could login, but I now can’t actually load my card as it doesn’t recognise the details of the card I am paying with - it keeps telling me my CVV must be 3 digits - but I’ve filled it in with three digits! So I literally cannot complete the transaction. Luckily I’ve still got version 8 on my IPad and was able to load from there on the simple old interface, but I need to be able to manage the account from my phone when I am away so this really needs to be looked at. Does feel like you’ve under tested a major upgrade - and over complicated something that was simple and easy to use while abroad…
