Possibly illegal payment system
This app charges your account £35-40 to plug your car in which they refund after a few days. At no point does it inform you of this until after the apple pay payment has been taken. This is not a hold like you get at car rental companies, it’s a full payment. I found this out after I had tried to start a charger several times, thinking the £40 hold was just that, a £40 hold, only to find they had taken £160 out of my account! Later on the phone to the company the staff admitted to me some chargers are not capable of being used over the app yet they take the payment anyway.
I’m now considering my options, will be putting in a complaint but I feel this needs to be taken up by trading standards. The Scottish government should be ashamed of themselves for selling this infrastructure to a private company that behaves in this way.
A necessity, but lacks basic working functions
Since my workplace has contracted with ChargePlace Scotland, in order to charge at work I must use this app to charge. It’s got a lot of bugs and doesn’t always work. Many times I have to call support to initiate a charge. It should be keeping track of the current charging session, sometimes the app crashes in the background and logs me out. It will not let me log back in because, as the app reports, there is a current charge in progress. That is a problem. Also if that happens, it doesn’t give you updates for your charging duration, so I have to guess. Since I will be fined for overstaying, this is critical to have functioning. There’s too many issues with this app. Why does it have to be so difficult to charge a car. It should be as simple as just plugging it in.
Terrible
Rarely does the app work and always needs a redirection ‘back’ as it starts asking for codes and I simply need to use email and password. When I finally do log in, the app fails to recognise my card details so the white CPS RFID card is basically nothing more than an ice scraper.. as for the app - if it does let me in, despite knowing I am a registered user, a hold on a varying sum of money is made and the charge often does not start - if I use my own bank card, the monetary hold is often less than using the app… the original system of monthly billing at least used to work….. pls, as others have advised, give this app a serious upgrade… I might not use it again as the octopus card seems to work on this network now………
