DG Cars 4+

Generally I like the app, although I’ve not registered a card as I prefer to pay by cash. I’m disabled so rely on taxis a lot and being able to track the car’s arrival saves a lot of waiting around in the cold in pain.

The reason the app loses a star is because although it remembers your three most recently used locations you can’t save locations, or even your home address, yourself. I go to the same 5 or 6 places a lot and it’s tedious to have to keep looking them up. The location tracker isn’t terribly accurate so I have to manually add my pick up each time. For example, if I’m at home the location tracker thinks I’m at 107 when I’m at 100 - even though 107 is no where near me. If they added this functionality I’d gladly amend this to a 5 star review.

Although this is a review of the app, I’d also like to add that given the cheap fares the service from DG Cars always seems pretty good as well.

Booked taxis to and from the airport. Both drivers were great. Very friendly, courteous and helpful.

Unfortunately there are a couple of drawbacks in using the app to book. Firstly you can’t put your flight number in anywhere so we had to call the office from abroad to add this having spoken to the driver on the way out and realising that it’s essential for them to have it. . Secondly, we tracked our driver and knew he was at the airport but we couldn’t find him. Whilst there is an option to “call” on the app this connects you to the head office not the driver so we were then at the mercy of messages being passed from one person to the other. Would be great if the call button linked straight to the driver.

I have used this several times in the last year and the tracking seems to works well. I like the security of knowing the cab is on its way. One thing I would like to request is that you can a select a home location as I always have to amend the pick-up location and on the return trip type in my home address.

A new problem today, I paid using the credit card option, but at the end of the trip the driver said wait, there is a problem with your payment. He rang the booking centre and they said payment was declined. So I paid cash, on my return home I checked my card balance and found it had been debited. DG are investigating, so beware using the Card option; it is also more expensive BTW.
