Description

Privacy, simplified.

At DuckDuckGo, we believe the Internet shouldn't feel so creepy, and getting the privacy you deserve online should be as simple as closing the blinds.

Our app provides the privacy essentials you need to seamlessly take control of your personal information as you search and browse the web, no matter where the Internet takes you:
• Escape Advertising Tracker Networks — Our Privacy Protection will block all the hidden third-party trackers we can find, exposing the major advertising networks tracking you over time, so that you can track who's trying to track you.
• Increase Encryption Protection — We force sites to use an encrypted connection where available, protecting your data from prying eyes, like ISPs.
• Search Privately — You share your most personal information with your search engine, like your financial, medical, and political questions. What you search for is your own business, which is why DuckDuckGo search doesn't track you. Ever.
• Decode Privacy Policies — We’ve partnered with Terms of Service Didn't Read to include their scores and labels of website terms of service and privacy policies, where available.

As you search and browse, the DuckDuckGo Privacy Browser shows you a Privacy Grade rating when you visit a website (A-F). This rating lets you see how protected you are at a glance, dig into the details to see who we caught trying to track you, and learn how we enhanced the underlying site's privacy measures. The Privacy Grade is scored automatically based on the prevalence of hidden tracker networks, encryption availability, and website privacy practices.

Our app provides standard browsing functionality including tabs, bookmarks, and autocomplete. In addition to strong Privacy Protection as described above, we also packed in some extra privacy features into the browser itself:
• Fire Button — Clear all your tabs and data with one tap.
• Application Lock — Secure the app with Touch ID or Face ID.

Too many people believe you simply can’t expect privacy on the Internet. We're fighting to change that, and have made it our mission to set a new standard of trust online. Install DuckDuckGo and take back your privacy!

Great Browser with tips

I came across the duck after buying a subscription to Nord VPN and a paid email service (Proton Mail which is also brilliant)Like many I had always used Google search and email and had no issues and actually admired Google for their innovation but sadly it got to the point that even I recognised exactly how much they they knew about me and often directed me in a particular manner which indicated how they scan read my emails and search history etc.
With frequent tips from the duck I now feel free and master of my own information lol

Good but UI is a bit clunky.

This is a good alternative to Safari. I like that it focuses on privacy (I do use an ad/tracker blocker on Safari). Unlike most other privacy led browsers it’s not light on features. The downside is that the interface is quite clunky and needs several clicks to do things that Safari doesn’t. There’s no tab bar at the top like Safari and you have to click to open a separate tab window. It needs two clicks just to open a tab. Having to access bookmarks, tabs and back/forward at the bottom is a bit irritating as I’d prefer them to appear at the top - the address bar doesn’t need to span the whole width of the browser. The fire icon that erases all browsing history and web data in one go is a feature I wish more browsers adopted. In Safari, you have to open the options, navigate to Safari and delete browsing data from there which is very annoyingly long winded. Firefox on iOS makes you trawl through several menus to delete browsing data. Bookmarks are a bit basic as there doesn’t seem to be a way to add folders. Safari wins for bookmarks. There’s no share button on the browser, you have to go into the menu and select it from there. With a few tweaks to the browser interface this could be a five star product. I have to commend it though for not being yet another privacy browser with next to no features.

Review

I have only just switched to DuckDuckGo as I read an article about google an what they can actually see an do an watch it sickened me at the thought of google being able to access just on me one person, the amount of info they have alone on myself is scary I don’t like that thought.. my daughter for a very long time has told me to be very careful with what I say an do through my phone? I was more concerned for my daughter thinking she was acting very cautious sometimes paranoid as she would turn her phone of when getting undressed or if she wanted to speak to me about something private her phone would be switched of but now after finding out what google can access just of myself my daughter isn’t the one that’s being to cautious.. I’ve noticed that everything an anything I talk about with my friends or something I listen to on the tv will for sure show up on my phone at some point that makes me think it was just a coincidence but it’s actually not there’s no such thing as a coincidence!! This made me want to switch over from google to DuckDuckGo...
